Lovely. Any problem with leakage where the shower door meets the pebbles, or doesn't it matter?

It was just completed 2 weeks ago. We have had minimal leakage where the shower meets the floor. They were here today to reinspect and found two areas where the sealant hadn't completely sealed. Today they laid a new bead down to fixed the problem. Hopefully that will be all that it needed. :-)

What type of floor is in your bathroom? Was it difficult to remove jacuzzi bath tub, did you have to also move the water pipes

The flooring is a tile of two different types. There is the pebble mosaic tile, that is supposed to take the shape of a dry creek bed running through the bathroom ending in both ends in a dry water pool bed (visualize). The other tile is shaded in grey's, cream's, and tan's. I saw it in a magazine one day (I think maybe House Beautiful or something) and I loved it. It is titled the tribal series.

The jacuzzi tub was not difficult to remove. I had contractors come in and do that, but it didn't seem particularly difficult for them seeing that they do this everyday. I've attached a few pictures of the work in progress for you. I did not have help with the design itself. I designed it myself and sketched it out for the contractors. No. I don't do this for a living. I just had an idea in my head, and after studying hundreds of different Houzz photos and design magazines, I was able to zero in on different elements that I wanted and didn't want.

We knocked out the partial wall that the original fiberglass shower was sitting on. That allowed us to expand and open up our shower space. There were pipes in that wall that had to be moved. Other than those, no other pipes had to be moved. They did have to be reconfigures slightly to fit the new design though.

In response the your original question on whether the water would leak where the pebble tile meets the shower glass.

The glass installer came back and found the area where the sealant had an opening (the area that was leaking).

He laid an additional sealant bead. We let it sit overnight to get a good seal and to dry. It worked! Problem solved. No more leaks. :-)

I love the pebble stream pathway and the tile. Very much like the look I want to achieve in my MBR within the next year. Funny, your vanity is almost exactly like mine and I want to keep the hickory cabinets but change the elevated top to a straight pice of granite (currently corian). Are you disappointed at all that you kept your wood cabinets? Do you like the rainfall shower Head? I wonder if people actually use and like them? Nice update!

We actually wanted to replace the counter top and cabinets, but were limited by how much we wanted to invest ($) in other parts of the bathroom. The counters and cabinets just weren't the priority for us. We would have love to change out the counter tops to granite. So yes we were disappointed that we couldn't give that area of the bathroom as much "attention" as we would have liked. However, we do feel like the major changes that we made to the floor, shower, and tub area are so phenomenal that we hardly even notice the counter and cabinets anymore. It was a great trade-off!

My husband actually uses that rainfall shower head more often than I do. He loves it (and so do I, when I use it). The reason I don't use it as often, is that it uses a lot of water at once. I'm a shower person to the extreme. I love to take really long showers (20 minutes or more). The hot water seems to run out more quickly through the rainfall shower head due to the quantity of water coming out. For a 10 minute shower, they are great. And they look nice.

Hi. Wonderful river effect with pebbles! Did you use the grout that had sealing material in it? How do you clean the shower tub area pebbles? I hear we are not supposed to apply certain cleaning material on these pebbles. any input?

We sealed the pebble tile separately. The grout did not include sealer. The pebbles are a natural stone, so you really don't want to use chemicals on it when cleaning. The result would lead to damage to the stones themselves, such as yellowing, cracking, etc...). We use natural cleaning formulas that we make up from natural ingredients (such as baking soda, vinegar, toothbrush, etc...).

Looks very nice- very similar to what we are about to do with our master bath except that we are going from brass to brushed nickel fixtures and trim on the shower. We did not replace the cabinets either but are getting rid of the dark stained trim and painting the woodwork white. Lowe's is coordinating the remodel.

P.S. I secretly wish that I had thought to paint our cabinets in a light shade of gray, since we could not afford to replace them. ;-)

If yours are anything close to ours, I think you definitely have the right idea in opting to lighten yours.

it looks amazing! have you thought about just painting the cabinets? a slate gray or espresso? i think that would elevate even more. even if you dont its a world of difference as it is. great job!

Thank you for your comment. I have in fact thought about painting the cabinets in a gray. I was thinking a dove gray, but a slate gray would work just as well. I haven't moved forward on it yet, but it isn't off the table in the future. I'm working on my outdoor patio project now (lol). I'll get back to the bathroom soon enough I guess.
