Upholster or buy new?

Shoud I upholster these wing back recliners? Or are they outdated so I should just buy new instead? Thinking about this animal print fabric

A new basic non-historic Queen Anne wing chair can be found as low as $299 in fabric, and sometimes cheaper. There were several silver gray zebra print wing chairs online for under $400. You would need at least 8 yards of fabric (matching direction, etc) which would put you at $239.00, and you still have labor. Surefit makes a stretch gray zebra wing chair slipcover for $94.99.

What websites do you recommend? Do you this style of chair is outdated and I should spend money on a different style chair?

I love wingback chairs. Not outdated at all.

Thanks...these recline which is why I'm considering upholstery as cheaper than just buying new...

Do you just want a new "look" for the same chairs or do you want new chairs all together....I'm confused? Are the chairs still in good structural/working condition?

I like the chair, but I would reconsider the fabric choice. An entire chair in that fabric may clash with the drapery and rug in the room. If you decide to reupholster the chair, please get more than one quote to ensure that it's more cost effective than buying new. Good luck.

Are they comfortable and in good condition? If so, I'd re-upholster. The chair in the photo looks lovely---and a wingback in a great fabric will be right in style. Good luck!

If these chairs are sentimental or if you can do upholstery yourself it will probably be just cheaper to purchase new ones. Reupholstery rarely saves you money.

Thanks! Yes they are in great condition and quite comfortable I'm doing the room in greys and Blues so I wanted to brighten up the chairs. However I shopped around to see if it was better to just buy new chairs since upholstery isn't inexpensive. Trying to find a good fabric that's on trend, but still classic so I don't get tired of it

I suppose it's often cheaper to buy a new chair than to re-upholster an old one, but I'd base my decision on comfort and the quality of construction. I'd rather spend more re-upholstering a solidly built favorite than buy a less expensive chair that will have to be replaced in three or four years.
