Please help me with my bedroom

For some reason my bedroom was never quite furnished, even though my family has been in this house for 18 years. I've decided that I am going to take the initiative after all this time and make my bedroom nice. The problem is, I am horrible at imagining furniture in such an empty space. Please help me out.

Please Note a couple things:

I am a 17 year old boy.
I cannot change the wall colors or the large chair (suggesting changing either will get me yelled at by my mother)
The walls look slightly pink in the pictures, but are a rather dark beige in reality.
The furniture other than the chair is not going to stay – Everything in the room is meant to temporarily serve a purpose, then return to our basement closet. (For example, the TV's table is not going to stay.)
I would like to keep the bed in the corner it is in currently, because no other configuration leaves room for the chair, and because cold air seeps through my window. This means that I need to have a full size bed, because a queen will not fit in that corner.
I will absolutely change the bedding. It is horrible.
I might be able to get a different color cover for the chair.
I'm not really sure what style I'm going for here. Perhaps something modern? (but not too modern like all aluminum furniture)
I'm on a tight budget.

Also, here are a couple things I had in mind, though I wouldn't call myself a visionary:

2 rows of shelves to go in the corner above the large chair
Artwork above the bed.
A dry-erase calendar and pin board above the desk, and the tv mounted above that.
Something like this bed frame, but way less expensive.
A minimal desk like this, but the colors of this desk specifically wouldn't go with the bed above.

I am open to any suggestions. Thank you so much. I really appreciate all your help.

Hey Jake, here is a quick plan I did based on the info you provided. I added a round stool for under the desk and a large dresser next to the bed (in case you need storage for folded clothes). Post any questions you might have about layout, colors, etc and I'll reply as quickly as I am able!

Hey adalisa, thanks so much for your input. For the desk I was planning on having some sort of office chair instead of a stool. I actually need to setup a workstation in my room for studying. As for the dresser, where exactly do you think I could fit it?

Can't the bed go where the desk is and jut out into the room? That would give you a little more floor space to work the rest of the furniture into.

Jake! I love the initiative! It does look pretty minimalisic. Depending on your style I think you could play with black and that creamy beige wall color together. Wall hangings will add interest, black furniture/accessories are easy to find or spraypaint. I would love to do a modern animal print accent, maybe in wall hangings or a new slipcover for the chair? They can get pricey but its definitely the cheapest way to get a new look out of the same chair!

If you're handy you could probably build some sort of headboard, or buy an ugly one and paint it, or do different things with the finish.

for the draft you can get caulking in home depot and calk around the window. also of your mom lets you hang drapes. this ones from ikea are really thick and heavy. 49

Jake, it doesn’t look like my floor plan showed up last night. Sorry! I’m showing a 48” dresser next to the bed with a lamp on it. Your existing chair on the other side with a wall shelf (grey) and your existing floor lamp behind it. I used the measurements for the Ikea desk and the grey circle there was the stool, but I know you’d prefer a chair.

Don’t place the tv too high on the wall because it will not be at a good viewing angle from your bed or the big chair (you’ll have to tilt your head back to watch if the tv is too high). I threw in an area rug on top of the carpet just to break up the beige. I hope this better helps you understand my comment from last night. Do you have any favorite colors? Movies? Sports teams to use as a jumping off point?
