The brackets were made by a local metal artist, Mike Forloney and the shelf is basic 1 by pine that you can get from your local lumber yard. It was rough sawn and then sanded. Hope this helps!

Is there no backsplash at counter edge- does countertops go directly to a painted wall? This is something Im wanting but am told need either tile or counter top material where at wall were countertop meets it.

Hi! Yes, we have venetian plaster walls, so we ran the sealed plaster to the top of the counter. I would only do this with plaster, not paint, as plaster is so thick that it takes up the gap between the counter top and wall that the backsplash naturally would cover. It also has to be sealed very well, and I would not put it behind the stove top. Hope this helps!
