Rescued bungalow!

This home was falling down when I purchased it. I first painted the 60's siding taupe, but that just didn't do it. Even with a new roof and windows, it still didn't seem right. With no real plan, I decided to order a dumpster and rip it off!I found that most of the original siding was in okay shape, and I prepped it for paint. I did the whole front in an afternoon, including the trim and moldings, and the neighbors were amazed! Pretty cheap fix for a pretty big impact!

Nice work! What a charming cottage you created.

Well done, Thomas. It's so perfect. I see from the growth in the conifer to the left that it took a while to pluck up the courage? Worth the wait, though.

Isn't it amazing what people cover up? Lovely going back to the original house, great curb appeal!

Looks like a brand-new house. Sometimes you just have to wonder what people were thinking.

Great Job! You could totally spice it up at some point with some shutters! I think it would make it dramatic and complete the look!

I also like the idea of shutters, and it looks like you have room on those two windows for properly sized shutters.

I also came across this picture that I think would really make your place look complete. I have no idea what your budget but I believe these are budget friendly. Omg Im starting to sound like an old person!!! Anyway I think to finish up your front door it would look good to box it in to really make the little stoop pop!! Like in this pic! You just need to add beams to either side of the small roof over the door.

Oh and I just noticed the lockbox on the door and the for sale sign in the yard. Im guessing you're probably done with this transformation. Oh well...Im sending my ideas anyway! =)

What a complete 180. Such a charming home you rescued. I'm sure everyone in the neighborhood is thrilled with your update! Love the color combination and the pots filled with annuals on the front walkway, well done!

Great job. If you want to see what it looks like with shutters here's a couple of ideas.

Kevin, that pretty much confirms it for me...shutters!

Nooooo, not shutters. They're like false eyelashes - false. The Kardashian of home exteriors. I love the clean simplicity as it is now, just needs some floral landscaping.

Sweet makeover! I don't think the large window needs shutters, as they will encroach on the little porch roof. That said, the smaller window seems to need something. Is it possible to enlarge it to match the other one? That might reduce the imbalance. I think the urns are a bit formal for this cottage. I would prefer something simple sitting on the ground rather than taking room away from the steps.

Ohhh...love those planter boxes, deco! Much better for this charming cottage than the urns.

I do think shutters would add even more charm in this adorable cottage (not exactly Kardashian in my mind!). However, I see what you mean about the larger window interfering with the porch roof. Nice if the smaller window could be enlarged. If no shutters, what about window boxes?

If the homeowner can keep them looking great boxes are fine. I have found a sweet way to make a window shelf with holes made that hold flowerpots that hang by their rims. Easy to remove and replace if a plant dies.

deco, we had a long window box across the front of a previous home. I loved it...kept it filled to the max with Blizzard ivy geranium...love their "up, out and over" trailing nature. We live in SoCal and they also provide great color all year long.

    Sounds pretty!

Maybe place a trellis to the right of the door to take up some of the wall space?

What a make over. Kudos. Your neighbors must love you. I think you brought up property values for everyone on the block.
