Replacing hinges

I am replacing all the old gold hinges and door handles in my entire house. Should I replace them with oiled bronze or brushed nickel hinges and handles? I feel like the oiled bronze may be on the way out!

It depends upon what fits your house the best. Don't waste money replacing the hinges, unless they are highly visible. While you are at it, replace the knobs with levers- no difference in price, and a cleaner look.

It's going to depend on the look/style you are going for. I would defiantly change out the hinges to match. I am detail oriented so that would be a big eye sore for me but some people may never notice.

If you are on a budget, take the hinges off and spray paint them the color of your new knobs. Really simple and makes a difference. Both Krylon and Rustoleum make metallic paints that will closely match either color choice.

We always like to go with stainless steel hinges and hardware. Satin stainless steel finishes are a unique addition to traditional door designs. It can really change the feel of the space.
