Take them outside and lightly sand then prime and paint them same color as your wall. All you would need is the sample size from Lowe's which always comes in a satin finish. 2.95 will change the look completely. After you apply your espresso stain, I'd accessorize with a unique antique mirror or a large round mirror, add a trailing potted plant which also has height, and two more unique trinkets which really speak to you. If it's in your budget, a beautiful wool area rug in a 5 x 6 foot size, and voilà you're done...for now.
