I don't have any design advice accept that sometimes granite cracks when it is removed, but sometimes not - you can certainly try to save it, especially as it is a big piece. However, there is nothing wrong with keeping it and having your perimeter counters a different stone which compliments it.

Hi Marie! I would design your kitchen around the island. Keeping it dark will give your kitchen a contrast. I would choose something like brown tile walls to match a darker wood cabinetry.

If you're thinking grey I would paint walls a Benjamin Moore Owl gray 2137-60 and cabinets griege with a soft white contrast.
