I agree with Lunada, if you use tray dividers in this space you can store trays, platters , cutting boards, griddles, cookie sheets, etc. You only need to be able to reach the front edge in order to get these things out.

Thanks for the suggestions. The kitchen already has a base cabinet dedicated to vertical storage for pizza pan, cookie sheets, trays etc. But I think a couple of dividers makes sense for the fridge cabinet anyway. I'm also looking at a slide-out shelf or options to make that deep storage more accessible.
