Would off-white night stands work?

I love your bed!! Would you share where you found it?

i dont think u hsve to let the end table go. think the black and green make a lovely combination. embellish your end tables with some gold or silver. then do some stencilling on the back wall with green and the gold / silver. look for a pale green comforter set....

Everything looks kinda squished to me. If you can live without the night stands, you could replace with floating shelves and wall mounted sconces/lights. That would visually open up that wall.

Love the headboard. I would have hubby build floating shelves out of the same wood. You have very little width so less is more. Use wall sconces so the shelves will be kept clear for book, etc. Love to see the finished room.

I love the ideas of floating shelves and hanging lights. I did wall lights/sconces (these from Ikea http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50216540/) to save room on my small nightstand. In the past I've also used outdoor string lights (with globe bulbs) to help with lighting, which I've always thought would be awesome in a bedroom. You could use an old crate as a nightstand nailed to the wall like this:

Saves floor space and creates a table/shelf combo that could house a basket if needed. Plants are a great way to add color to a neutral palette as well. Love what you have so far! Good luck!

i like the headboard. You can put artworks on the side tables. And you should take a bigger lamps as you see. If you have some space you can use puff. love to see finished room.

The headboard is great but it gets lost against the dark wall...lighten the wall to match others. Definitely lose the night stands and go with the a floating shelf and mounted lighting...maybe two small ottomans or bench at foot of bed...then mix up your bedding to suite the season or your mood!!!

looks like you've painted yourself into a corner. Small room? If so I would jazz up the feature wall with a bright color and add wall lamps on either side of bed. Bedding should have splashes of color from feature wall. A nice storage ottoman at end of bed.

I like the floating shelf idea, as well. If you go that route, I would also go with swing-arm lamps on the wall beside the bed, which will keep your night tables uncluttered.
For the shelf, I would go with the same wood finish as the bed, or possibly a pretty stone or glass. Keep the lamps clean and simple...

It is entirely possible that the existing night stands could be stripped and whitewashed, the cutesy pulls replaced with a more modern gunmetal-ish pull...and be more in keeping with the rustic headboard.

I would still stick with the wall lamps or table lamps with a small footprint, because that room is going to feel crowded with big lamps.

I would stick with linen duvet and shams in a neutral, with throws and art to give pops of color...to keep an organic feel...

Here are some bedrooms with reclaimed wood headboards. Mixing up raw and fancy together is fun and interesting. Since your backdrop is dark as well, go light with the bedding unless you repaint the accent wall to match the rest then a pattern or a blanket like the one with the moose below would look interesting. Add a fantastic piece of art over the bed or an ornate but smallish mirror (I'd never put a mirror over the bed, but if you do anchor the heck out of it.) If you have an overhead light, install a small, fun chandelier--small white antler pendant!

I like your nightstands. Just get some nice crystal or raw wood knobs for them. They could be repainted a distressed white or another color if you're not happy with the green.

And the other wall which is adjacent to master bathroom which we eventually want to possibly do a sliding barn door on the wall instead of the corner door that is there now.

No it doesn't need to stay. It was from our old place so I just put it there until I found a better spot for it (if any haha)

Ok, because to me, it seems more out of place than the night stands.
You have that pretty window alcove there, but the chair just seems a little wrong for the spot...and not really meshing with that great, original organic mood coming from the headboard.

Could you do away with the feature wall color now that you have that headboard? Maybe paint the whole room, but in a softer tone that plays up the wood?

This is quite neutral...but you could go with a greyed soft green...since you seem to like green...

The fantastic headboard disappears into the accent wall. Now that I see the whole room, the room would be much better without that accent wall and with the night tables painted in a distressed white. mrsstem's second photo is a great look--mossy, grayish bedding in the same tones as the headboard, white bedding, same color wall as the rest of the room.

I like the accent wall colour. You're right, the room doesn't look that small.

I also like the end tables. I would either add tall glass-based lamps or wall mounted lighting.

Nice job on the headboard! I like your dark wall (cozy), bed tables, chair, white duvet cover. I agree that the two lamps need to be taller-- they should be an appropriate height for reading, even if you never plan to read in bed. Lamps or wall sconces . The dark wall might need something else dark to balance it-- perhaps a dark bench at foot of bed?? And a couple extra pillows, with black and white stripes or print. Something is needed on that large wall, but what!?

I suppose that bedside tables with some wall showing or a bit of a leg might give a little lighter feel to the wall, but I personally wouldn't go to the trouble of time or expense to change them. And their green color is a neat contrast with the neutrals in the room. No need to change color, in my opinion. Headboard and carpet make a color connection.

Perhaps mrsstem's first pic of wall lights would be enough to add airiness mentioned. By the way, although i like the concept of floating shelves, you may need a little bit of storage here...and have it hidden, yes? You would then want at least one drawer for each side of the bed.

One more comment ? I think the colors of your current lamps look terrific-- white and silver. They echo the chair. If only they were taller and slim. --Stores these days seem to feature a lot of short, weighty lamps; they seem to be best suited for mood or night lights. I am looking forward to whatever you end up with. Your style is very inviting.

I agree with the others who suggested you lighten up the walls so the headboard can pop. The more you stay neutral, the more your husband's handiwork can be appreciated.

I think you need tall lamps to pull the eye up...Functionally these lamps cannot be used for ready at night..

Deluxe bedding..check!

Consider lightening the wall color or wall paper...

I love the headboard but don't like the black wall with it or the green tables. I'd keep it all in the neutrals but lighter behind the headboard so it pops as well as picking a color/s for the accents.

I would do a soft bed cover like mentioned before but maybe bring in some texture with some shabori or kilm pillows. Maybe some simple framed photos on either side. One of you on one side and your husband on the other side. The color of the wall is also lovely!

Night stands are too big and heavy...consider something open with a reflective finish (mirror or metal). Then pick out bedding.

Is the alcove large enough to float the bed in front of it? I think the problem is everything looks crowded along the short wall. Or, you can float the bed in front of the bathroom wall, with the headboard acting as a "wall". By float, I mean pull the bed out so there is enough space to move freely around the bed. It is such a lovely room, you should be able to find a layout that is comfortable and that highlights it's features.

Here is the progress so far. I want to get some artwork behind the nightstands to tie in the colors on the bed, a bench for the end of the bed and eventually paint the accent wall to match the rest of the walls (add it to the long list of projects!)

Definitely need some navy down on the bed...a throw is good. Doesn't even have to be solid...but a lot of it. The peach and green pillows seem kind of an afterthought. Maybe a navy, peach, green abstract print? Or look for tribal pillow covers on Etsy. Kilim pillow covers may offer just the punch and colors you need.

I have this in my book and liked the organic look, but it's a bit masculine for me. That you added casual/ feminine color pillows is nice I think. If art had a bit, even better....

I like to paint color you have now and the headboard. I agree with floating shelves and a pop of a bright color - yellow accents to brighten it up. As an alternative, you might want to change out one night stand and take out the drawers of the other, paint it white and use the open shelving.

Hi! You are well on your way! I think you need some pattern. I don't know your preferences, but I would add art & color & pattern. A bold accent wall needs fabulous dark/light accents.

I don't really think the navy wall shows off the headboard.

I still wonder if neutral tones might play it up better.

Ahh I see...you DO plan for that wall to NOT be navy, but march the rest of the walls.
