Floor Outlet Covers

OK...so I took the advice of many people and had floor outlets installed in our brand new living room. Great idea...however...the electrician covered them with an unsightly plastic tan cover. Our floors are beautiful dark hardwood and they look ridiculous. The electrician said that if I wanted something different I would have to find them myself...what a guy. Any ideas about where I can get my hands on something better?

Try: http://www.outwaterhardware.com/ on page 28 for hardwood covers. I don't know if they sell to the general public. Type "switch plate covers" into Google and you should get a whole bunch of results. Hope this helps.

Of course you can...you can even buy wooden ones if you would like that to blend in with the floors. You may have to stain them darker, but I know Lowe's and Home Depot have them! Or you might can get a carpenter ro make you some covers from left over pieces of your hardwood flooring to match exactly. Depends on how picky you are and if they will be seen after you arrange your furniture! Good Luck!

My covers are brass and look like a ship latch. There are tones of covers.

P S find a new electrician. This one is lazy.

My experience with floor outlets is a different type of outlet with a brass cover as judyg describes. The idea of using ordinary outlets isn't what I would expect. Are the receptacles set level with the floor or recessed so that the cover is level?
