Great job! To warm up the space, towels in a warm color would work very nicely.

I live near New Mexico and I really like the tile on the floor. Wish they could have done something creative with it instead of taking it out. And, I'm so happy to see the return of "peach" in decor. It's a color that warms, without being "pink."

Just looked at the rest of the house! LOVE the textures! The walls in the purple, black and white bathroom are a bit beyond this granny, but I like the rest of the house....it looks like a really fun place for an adventurous family to live! I like the idea that you have different colors in various rooms. I've always hated the decorator's motto that colors need to flow from one room to another...I like having "islands" in my home...if I want my bedroom to be a blue "island" and my bathroom to be a green "island", it's MY house, so why not decorate it in a way that speaks to me! The colors don't have to clash, but they don't all have to be in the same palate either if that's not what the homeowner wants! I think you've done a marvelous job of individuality in each room, but it all works together.

The pink marble was gorgeous! The floor tile - terrible. It now feels cold and very sterile.

I'm really surprised at the negative comments. If it isn't your style then don't comment. Remember the phrase "If you can't say something nice....."
The update looks fabulous. Its a modern look and it follows the current tile trends with large format which gives a look of simplicity. It's definitely a HUGE improvement over the pink. There is a style for everyone out there and this homeowner likes modern. It was done very tastefully.

The new bathroom isn't exactly my style, but it is so much better than the old one. That pink bathroom looked like it belonged in the home of Strawberry Shortcake!

I just have to ask. Were the pink walls marble or another material? Transformation beautiful.

That's what trolling is and people that tend to type in negative comments to any given article most likely would not say that to the person's face unless you're extremely rude and have no scruples about how to be courteous. Yes....everyone has different taste. And the internet has made people much more bold and rude because there's no face-to-face interaction.
When you read the newspaper.....do you pass by the articles you're not interested in? Do the same on Houzz please.

As a PRO, I'm sure you realize you're ahead of the curve with regards to design, so allow others to learn trends at their pace. About five commenters prefer the original, but that doesn't make them 'wrong', it's just they have different tastes and that's fine. And if we all liked the same thing it would be a boring world and we'd run out of "gray tile" or whatever. Cheers!

@dmbureman...I certainly do not want to argue about this. Black and white comments can be taken out of context and I am not a contentious person. I am merely pointing out that social media has thrown courtesy and manners right out the window. I may or may not like the contemporary look but this remodel was very well done. Wouldn't the world be a nicer place if people kept their negative comments to themselves and instead complimented or didn't say anything at all? Is a negative comment productive? When a person thinks about posting a negative comment they should ask themselves "would I say this out loud to that person?"
Say it out loud and imagine being the receiver. Social etiquette can go a long way.

Great transformation -- some may call it austere, but I call it clean and crisp (perfect for a bathroom).

Expecting everyone else who doesn't like a reno/decor to "keep it to yourself" is unrealistic on a social media platform. Besides wouldn't it be boring and one sided if everybody just loved everything we see on Houzz? Opposition can sometimes spark creativity or new ideas, if you're open minded.

@ Finstads, I respectfully disagree. I am a market research consultant and if I don't hear both sides, of what people like and don't like about a product or service, I'm not helping my client who needs to make tough decisions. Companies are now regularly looking at social media comments as a way to embellish their understanding of the consumer. Therefore, it is not "negative" when someone has a different opinion than another person's, rather it is a fuller picture of the situation. I don't think anyone here is a negative person or picking a fight. I just think some don't understand ALL the ways these comments are used for business purposes, rather they think with their personal opinion hat on.

Finstads Carpet One is right on the money about the snarky negative comments about this remodel. They did not post it here for a critique and none is necessary. If you don't like something, just move on to another area. We are not in the high school locker room. We are on a professional site where people post decorating and remodels that they are proud of. If it is not your taste, just hold your negativity.

Marilyn, if someone posts on a public forum, they surely must know they are open to feedback. If they didn't want feedback, the comments section should not exist. This is America correct, where the First Amendment allows freedom of speech, isn't it? Or did you and Finstads rewrite the Constitution? ;-)

Comments like "ruined it." and "I can't decide which is worse.." Have no place here. You obviously watch to much tv and have forgotten your manners. I stand by what I said. This is not a place to be rude to someone.

Thank you to all for comments good or bad. We wanted to show the dramatic change in the space. It was opened up to comments either direction, this is how we all learn.

This may not be a style or look for everyone, but it was the style for this client.

Some had questions on the materials of the before marble, this was a wall covering, (wallpaper or wallboard) and not real. The new gloss tile is a grey, not a mirror tile.

I think I could have tolerated the pink floor. May have even grown on me after a while. But the pink marble on the walls?! And what was that? Bright pink drawer pulls? Tearing out and starting over was a very good idea. Your bathroom looks great, whereas before it was a wow and not in a good way

The "pink" floor looks more like a peach-pink color on my computer and I love the varying values of the tiles which makes me think the floor might be fairly recent. I'm repelled by the after pic. It reminds me of a dentists office. What's with all the cold dull color schemes lately? It's like they're trying to cleanse our visual palette so they can change it all up again and keep us in a never ending vicious cycle of updating and spending!

Just curious what were the old veined walls made of? Laminate? It was interesting.

I can see a need to be civil in expressing opinions here, but another thing to keep in mind, is that furniture and material vendors as well as designers "advertise" here. By putting something out there, they invite criticism as well as praise. As an intended user of a product or service, I don't really think I am doing them a disservice if I politely indicate they missed the mark. Like it or not, I am a demographic data point just like everyone here, and a smart pro wants the feedback, and can be open to constructive criticism.
For this remodel, the client's needs were met and a good job was done, in my opinion, by the way. (Although I kind of expect to hear HAL start talking :)...)

Is the tile wall as reflective as it appears in the photo? Isn't it a rule of bathroom design to make sure there's no reflection of the toilet user?

I can agree with both sides. This is why we are all getting sssoooo tired of grey, just like we got sssooooo tired of beige. Trends change. Good taste doesn't. The remodeler prefaced this by this is what the client wanted. That is what we as designers need to do, is satisfy the client finally, but give guidance in another direction when needed. I would dislike sitting on the toilet & seeing myself. The room could have had a different response had they only used matte tile instead of glass or glossy.

The glossy reflective wall tile would be enough to keep me skinny. I like it and it looks easy to maintain.

Regarding the negative comments, when Pros post, all bets are off. They are supposed to have thick skin. Besides, the comments may help them with the next client who's getting ready to make a mistake.

before and afters. It helps us to see what other PRO's, perspective clients,
and others are thinking about the current trends. We are also, as some have
mentioned, hired by a client to help them get what they are looking for.

The Glossy Grey tile was done to be a statement wall, and to
help add depth to the small bathroom foot print. It is as reflective as it
appears, but it was a one time popular to put mirrors on full walls. Trends
changes, clients taste changes, we are here to try and help them get to where
they are now. Otherwise we would not have a career, if everyone all liked the
same thing and could do it themselves.

Thanks for the explanation. I have rarely seen a full wall mirror in a bathroom, even in the days of full wall mirrors in other rooms. I think the homeowners will regret a mirror next to the toilet.

I think I could have grown to love the floor tile. At least in the picture it looks a bit more orange than pink. But the rest is hideous. Anything would have been an improvement but what you chose is really, really great. Nice work.

I would never have been able to live with the "before" bathroom as it was. Actually, any component of it would have made me want to rip it out. And I love the new version; although it's more modern that I personally would have chosen, I can appreciate the aesthetic that it creates and think it looks stunning.

I like the "before" room especially the genuine tile floor, but I'm one of those people who need warm colors and a bright happy look in my house. Others need things more simple, calm and even (to me) stark -- it's their home and their money, and I do hope they'll love the new look.

Even though discussion should always be invited, it really is possible to disagree without being disagreeable.
