This room needs a pop of something! Any suggestions?

I know we need some paint color, but I don't know what to choose. Also, the chair slip covers are very thin. I have stood in this room for hours and have no clue.

I think you need a pattern on your carpet. I love the two end chairs but do not like the slip covers. You need some crystal and I would make a floral arrangement for your center piece. I would change the mirror and add a shimmery mirror of some sort I would go round or even a nice wall clock or colourful art to compliment your end chairs.

I would choose pieces that stand out to you though. Only you know what you like. For me I get very overwhelmed so take it one day at a time.

My vote would be either a more colorful rug, or else replace the mirror with a piece of artwork. I think color is what is lacking.

What do the chairs look like under the covers. If they are in rough shape paint them and replace chair cushions. After my kids kept staining our dining room chair cushions I just painted them with latex house paint which made them easy to wipe off. Or just add chair pads. You could use a metallic paint on the mirror frame to lighten it. Or use chalk paint on it and chairs in cream or a bright color. Does your dishware and China have any pattern you can repeat in color or theme? With the fabric on those chairs I could see a couple poppy paintings flanking the mirror in matching dark frames. Or some colorful plates.
Do you want a sleek modern look or a traditional feel? Creamy chalk paint or dark wood stain on the side chairs or a bright glossy paint to match the coral/red on the upholstered chairs? Either way work a little more of that color into the accents to unify the room. Lots of changeable ways to add color without painting the walls.

I think your dining room is really pretty. I love the colors. The upholstered chairs at the end of the table look great. If you are not happy with the slipcovers, I would try taking them off. What do your 6 chairs look like? Are they in good condition? If not, consider finding chairs in a similar fabric-perhaps linen to replace them-but the colors are perfect. Both fabrics-the slipcovered fabric and the fabric on the chairs at the head of the table complement each other nicely! Love your candle holders on center of the table! If you want a bit more color, I would find a piece of art that you love and take the mirror down. This will give you more color. Beautiful dining room.

I would replace the mirror with a piece of art, mostly because as a dinner guest I would hate to have to look in the mirror at myself :-) I also agree on changing the slipcovers. This room really doesn't need too many changes.

Wow, ebmolly! Your dining room wall looks amazing. I love it. Did you paint it or did you have it done professionally?
