pilasters or not?

we are thinking of converting this room into a home theater and not sure if pilasters will look good since it's an A frame ceiling. we are putting a projector on to the ceiling so the ceiling will be a bit lower. how short is short pilasters that they won't look funny? how about putting moulding where ceiling meets wall - will that look funny also?

No and I would not add moulding as it will further accentuate the ceiling and wall .

Pilasters would not work in this space, how about a chair rail where the ceiling will meet the wall.

Hi,

Definitely, I would not use pilasters which are typically more formal.

Moulding between the wall and ceiling is not necessary, if you are treating the wall and ceiling the same colour.

Since your wall height is very short, I suggest painting the wall and ceiling the same colour. A nice addition would be wooden beams along the ceiling with a larger beam running perpendicular the full length of the peak.

You should have someone look at the floor loading to make sure the structure is sufficient.

I would consult with a structural engineer. Your floor supports may need to be changed in order to use this as a room. I also would not move any of the existing roof trusses. You will need to consider the insulation as well.

What an interesting space this could be. Lots of opportunities for creative built-ins for tons of storage with the knee wall spacing too. Love to see your after photos when you get there!
