You might consider wallpaper for this wall space with a background colour the same as yr walls
one suggestion would be modern style of bare tree branches as seen in the ref pic
( I like this ideas of a lounge area for conversation)

I like all of the pieces you are considering! I would probably go for the last one (green-blue) though, because I think saturated colours would go really well with your armchairs (better than bold colours I think). Then I would try to bring something green into the room, maybe a plant or decorative items for the round table. (But it seems you have a little child, so you are probably trying not to have many things around?)

I have thought about wallpaper and loved the idea of it. But my husband is a bit gun-shy since he had to remove it from one of our bathrooms when we moved in.
Although if it's less expensive than the artwork he may be on board... ;)

Despinach, yes, we have a toddler. Plus, we use the table many nights for games so I'd prefer to not have to move stuff all the time.
But I also would like to make the room less bare...

Sara - how about two co-ordinating pieces of art instead of one large piece? I have a feeling two would look better than one. You could also do a gallery wall if you like them.

Hi sara! There a re a lot of newer wallpapers now that are easier to remove should you consider this option.

Beautiful space! Just a couple of ideas. Think about adding straight panels to the window for a touch of softness. I would use a solid in the lovely teal/turquoise color in a low luster silk. For a little sparkle in the room, look for a narrow furniture piece (entry table or credenza style) for the art wall in a mirrored or antique Mercury mirrored finish and hang your art above. Let us see your space when completed!

This might be an interesting idea if you are being budget conscious
wood molding strips arranged on the wall and the interior painted and then add a decorative piece in the center
Or first paint a square of yr colour and place the molding appropriately.(better idea)
You could add a narrow cabinet beneath to hold your games etc. and add a decorative floor lamp

I agree that you definitely need some art on that wall. Yes you could do one large piece or multiple smaller pieces. One large colorful piece may draw too much attention away from your beautiful furniture and current interior design. I have plenty to choose from if you are interested in abstract contemporary metal decor. I specialize in custom colors, we could match that teal for sure to stick with your color scheme going. I think a framed print might be better. Definitely think you need something with color to complement the chairs. The second option is from Crate & Barrel. You'll have to tape the measurements on the wall since these examples are not to scale.

I think you definitely need to tie in the blue of the chairs with your art. Great Big Canvas has wall peels that are like murals that can be removed easily. Go big & with much blue. Don't go with a two piece or tryptich, they are not updated looking.

the large piece of art on the wall is most likely go to be better appreciated by somebody staying in your foyer.


Thus, I would suggest changing the chandelier in the sitting room to a large ceiling light, either flush or semi-flush.

Hi, beautiful room and love the direction you're going with it vs. a formal dining room.

You've gotten some really good ideas so far. Like the idea suggested by Janiehburton to place a (narrow) console under the art (if space allows) as an anchor for the vignette. Also love Anne Dee's suggestion above. Out of the 4 choices you posted earlier, I like the ones er612 photoshopped (thank you er612, love the visual!). I also like the art from C&B er612 suggested too. :-)

Btw, where did you get those beautiful blue chairs?

i agree the light is not right for the space how it is, and you could get better lighting directed at the table. while also opening up the space for viewing of what ever ends up on the walls.

looking thro, i see grover posted a bookcase ......that is the winner in my book. you have a semi formal home, and that would fit the bill and be a place for the games.

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions! Groveraxle, I love the book case but I have no clue what we'd put in it. We all have Kindles. The games are stored in the credenza in the foyer (shown in one of my first pics). There's not a huge amount of space in the room so that's why I thought maybe just art. Would it look strange to have a console there directly across from the credenza?

What a pretty space! I love your chairs. Personally, I like your idea of a single, large art piece. I think any of the four you posted would look terrific. I am partial to the marina and then #4 the blue and green one. I hope you will post a new pic after you get something in place.

If you're considering a console, I would move the one from the entry so you can test it out before buying another.

Hi I don't think it would too repetitive to place a console under the art with a credenza in the foyer if you have the space for one. Just now though when looking at the space again, it does look like placing even a narrower console on that wall may be too tight of a "fit" So, I think your initial instincts were right....go with one large piece of art.

Naturally I would like Groveraxle's tree print the best... It's the most expensive one on art.com! It looks fantastic though.

I decided to go with the trees that Groveraxle suggested. I initially dismissed it due to cost but realized it was really the best option. Thanks everyone for their suggestions!
