Thank you all for the comments :) Ameliorater: I am a fine artist myself, my artist website is www.studiovgallery.com Yes, I actually freehanded the tree myself, and enjoyed every moment of it, although I was a bit nervous just 'going to town' so to speak. The Family quote underneath is a decal (I am not so talented at cursive writing/painting) purchased off of Etsy to support other artists, and it says Family like branches on a tree, we all grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one. Tree is very nice but the chest isn't placed to balance and that mess of
mismatched frames, yikes. Keep tweaking until it matches the tree's quality.

I've wanted to start a "family" wall. My husband suggested a Family Tree. One of our daughters said it would be tacky. WELL, wait til I show her this, I Love It! Wonderfully creative idea. I think the chest looks good there. Like how the tree is "blowing" in the wind, and the chest just looks "right" to me. I plan on using black, and pewter frames, ( my personal choice), but I like how you've chosen the different frames.The results look well put together. Thank you for sharing your creativity, and artwork. Got my Painting fingers itching! LOL

What a wonderful idea! I think you did a great job! This is your home, not some showplace. I like your individuality. I sometimes wonder why some people bother to even come to these sites if all they want to do is post negativity. Please do not let these people bother you. No one can please all the people all the time.

BEAUTIFUL! I'm of the "like family photos" genre. I like that you didn't go matchy-matchy with the frames. They blend, but give individuality to each photo which is nice! One commenter said something negative about the chest on the left-hand side of the photo, but I think it's a nice balance. It wouldn't look good to leave that area blank, and a chair or something would definitely deduct from the elegance of your tree. Keep up the good work! Your house will be very personal with design choices like this!

OH...could you please paint your electrical outlet cover to match the tree. I have a real "thing" about industrial "stuff" showing up in decor. LOL!

Thank you Ohs, I am glad you like it :) I understand what you mean about negativity and I do appreciate helpful comments, I usually try and go to a lot of other comments from that user to get a feel for their style and aesthetic. If all their comments are to the point of something being wrong with the person's work, I do not put a lot of stock into what they suggest. Many have given me great ideas though and I love that about this site and others :) !

My favorite category is the Before and After photos, I love seeing people take a space and do something to make it their own, in their own way. Please LMK if you ever do one, I would love to see it!

LOL Org, thank you for the comments, I know I really should paint it hahaha, question have you done it before? How do you keep the paint being scratched off of it in use(or small kids haha)? I just don't want it to look tacky all scratched up or spend time painting over and over? Is there a safe glaze or easy way to keep it from doing that?

What a fun space! I actually like the mish-mash of different frames...speaks to the quote you put on the wall and the individuality of those in the photos. LOVE the painting!

Yes, I've painted outlet and light switch covers...I use Rustoleum Ultra Cover Paint + Primer. It's a spray paint and has a big 2 X on the label. It comes in lots of colors, some glossy, some mat. A can goes a long way. I buy it at Home Depot because it's like $3.50 per can. Places like Fred Meyer charge $5-something per can and Michael's crafts/Joanne's sells it for $6 plus.

I've used it on EVERYTHING. Daughter and I repainted one of those Little Tykes plastic play houses which originally came in bright primary colors with this paint and really toned down the "Hey look at me, I'm a plastic playhouse" look of it. It held up well outside year-round. I've painted plant pots for outside look (plastic and terra cotta). If I leave them out all winter, they may need a bit of a touch-up come Spring...otherwise, the paint stays on just fine without scratching off.

Thankfully, it's a cheap project as the cover plates cost about $1, so if it doesn't work for you, you haven't broken your budget!

Victoria, abt. your comment on the outlet cover. wooden covers are available, you can paint them to match ANYTHING! Hahaha, if you do, make sure to change the outlet color, too match, too. It just looks weird to me , if it's not going to match, too. It's funny, I didn't even notice the outlet, til someone else mentioned it. I was too enthralled by the whole concept. And ,on my end, the family tree will be awhile. :( Right now my bedroom is completely gutted, so it gets priority...... But I love your idea, and execution of such. Thank you so much for sharing!!!!
