incredibly gaudy

was there any consideration of integrating colors already in the natural design elements into paint choice instead of forcing this bold choice?

Just a guess but I see the homeowner has a collection of blue glassware in the China cabinet, maybe that was the jumping off point?

I have been in this house and the turquoise color is much more muted..the photography punches it up. It's much more subtle and really beautiful...

    Hi Lisa,

Are you referring to the kitchen walls? This color is Benjamin Moore Winds Breath with an eggshell finish. The island is Benjamin Moore Spectra Blue.

The blues throughout are quite a fright. Carnivalesque — but we know what they say about opinions!!

This is gorgeous! ! love the collaboration of materials and colors. This is delightful example of how something can be both bold yet calming. This sky blue island with black mate colored counter top really pairs well with the playful backsplash behind the stove. Both the plale butterscotch painted walls and walnut stained hardwood floors help create warm hues which balance with the cooler colors in ceiling beams, blue island, white windoz trims, white, stainless steel appliance, and pendeant lighting hardware. I imagine the pendent lighting really creates a pretty little light show with the backsplsh when turned on. One could use a flickering hue light bulbs to create a playful scene with colors. This photo makes me happy. This choice of blue may not be everyone’s cup of tea. However, “Gaudy “ is not how I would characterize this color scheme. I believe this same look could play out well with other colors.
