We used a container for storage during a renovation. Just be sure to check with your local gov't to see if there are any regulations for keeping a container on your property. We received the incorrect information from the company we used, although they were wonderful in all other ways.

Depending on your location and length of storage, make sure the furniture will not get too dry, too moist, too cold or too hot during storage. The company you rent from may have climate controlled storage at a reasonable price.

Check with your insurance company to determine if your homeowners' insurance covers indoor furniture stored outdoors.

Before you order one of those pods or whatever you get, be sure and read extremely carefully the contract as from what I've read on them, you have to keep them a specific period of time, and once they have your credit card number, they're going to keep charging it whether you have it or not. And sadly, the bank will tell you that since you have a relationship with them, any unauthorized charges after you're done with it probably can't be charged back! I speak from experience on a genealogy web site where they charged my debit card without notifying me, and it took 6 months to fully resolved it!

Our village does not allow PODS on driveway and since I only have about 10 pieces to store we are going to clear space in garage. Very uncomfortable with the hard sell from the POD rep.....the village actually saved me from a probable headache. Thanks!
