need help choosing the perfect tub

we are finally getting our master bath remodeled- in an ideal world we would have been able to afford to do a free standing tub and seperate shower...but the cost was just too high- so we are going to do a tub and shower combo- but my contractor has assured me that I can still choose a wonderful, indulgent, deep soaker tub- he says to choose a "three sided" acrylic tub and we will tile around it for the shower .....this is my first time ever choosing anything like this and I am terrified of making a bad decision- I have lupus and fibromyaligia and so soaking in the tub is a huge pain reliever for me...we are taking out a wonderful but badly worn cast iron tub that was nice because it held heat but I really want to choose a great quality tub,not to expensive, that wont flex....hate that feeling...thats one reason we love the cast iron....and that is suuuuper deep- we can go up to six feet long but not too much wider then the standard tub....and we have to be able to step into it easily for showering- the contractor doesnt plan on making a "deck"...please help
