Basement Makeover - suggestions?

We are in the midst of giving our basement a facelift and Im looking for some advice on paint colors for walls and bar, and also suggestions for replacing bar countertop. Was thinking grey or neutral wall w darker grey/charcoal bar and reclaimed wood countertop but want to keep it relatively inexpensive. Will be carpeting with neutral loop carpet. Any advice is appreciated!

Also, would we continue carpet behind bar? Its not a wet-bar so no sink. Thanks!

The carpet would go altogether, put in a nice wood floor, there are some very affordable, with an insulation so it wont get cold.

TV area on the bottom wall, with visibility all over the room.

Living and play area in the middle, Gaming table for example.

Photo 1: I'd like the reclaimed wood on the side of the bar. Be sure the reclaimed wood has some gray on it to repeat the gray walls.

I guess you can use carpet behind the bar if you are not having a sink. Idea: serve only drinks & foods that are the color of the carpet &/ or consider a carpet with pattern? Photo 2

I might do the top of the bar in a laminate or zinc or ?. Some material that can be wiped easily. See several zinc counter tops here: http://www.houzz.com/counter-top-zinc
