Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. The top rail is actually Meranti. We use 2 layers of 1 x 12 glued together with marine epoxy and cut to the radius.

The bench is another process. That bench is laminated redwood. In other words we take 2x3 clear redwood and rip it into thin layers. It is then glued together and bent to a form.
