Decks by Kiefer was established in 1975 by Bob Kiefer, a superb craftsman whose roots in the field of landscape architecture enable him to approach his custom deck and carpentry projects from a unique design perspective. His extensive portfolio of decks with built-in benches, deck and patio combos, bi-level decks, raised decks, privacy walls, and even decks with hot tubs and cooking areas, are each designed to integrate seamlessly into the natural surroundings of any home. Bob and team did an excellent job with my deck. He designed a plan when we first met and followed it through all the way to completion. His team completed the work from start to finish in two weeks from removing the existing pavers to building the deck, and putting on the finishing touches.

There is something about Bob and you sense it immediately. It’s his demeanor. He listens. He is friendly, cooperative, and makes you feel he is a man to be trusted. Set your expectations high and you will not be disappointed. In fact they will be exceeded! As another reviewer stated he takes measurements, and in our case, with some helpful suggestions transformed our vision of our deck remodeling into a drawing right there and then. We hired him that afternoon. The job was performed in a timely and professional manner with Bob’s involvement every step of the way. We love the results as does everyone who sees it. A recent visitor stated “This doesn’t look like the work of a carpenter, it looks like it was done by a craftsman”. We agree wholeheartedly. Thank you Bob.

Bob Kiefer had done work for us in the past. We moved and needed the 1988 deck replaced. We obtained several estimates and he was very competitive and we knew he did quality work from our past experience. He and his crew worked for 3 weeks in May 2016 and we now have a beautiful, sturdy and well constructed deck built with quality materials and understated attractive deck lighting. He also built several raised planters for our garden.

Bob Kiefer is a joy to work with. He is responsive, well-priced, and a master carpenter with access to a first class team. He may also be telepathic, or just have really good taste - not sure which. After interviewing several deck builders, some of whom were very difficult to schedule a visit with, dealing with Bob was like a breath of fresh air. He patiently listened to all of my requests and concerns and sat down and drew a sketch of what I wanted. He then quoted all options as line items within two days. When I came back to him a year later, he didn't write me off, but requoted a modified version and put it in a deck extension with additional trellises, a bar, and 2 gates in a total of three days. I didn't need to micromanage him - everything turned out as I imagined if not better. I needed some small adjustments, which he was able to fit into his schedule at little notice and for which he charged only a site visit fee. I hope I have the opportunity to employ Bob Kiefer again, and I recommend his services without any reservation.
