Ikea Bodbyn White

Does anyone have this door and colour in your kitchen? I really want a white kitchen but I didn't realize how off white they really are. I wanted white subway tile but I'm afraid my cupboards will look more yellow and dirty if I go that route. I would love to see your white Bodbyn ikea kitchen! Please help!

    Anyone? :)

Trish, I just did my kitchen but they are the offwhite, Grimslov. I have a lot of white in the kitchen also, appliances, sink, but they dont make the offwhite look dirty. Everything looks a little yellow from the lighting, sorry. I will have to get some daytime photos.

I'm having the same fear. I plan to use the off-white Bodbyn cabinets with silver hardware. I really want to do a marble herringbone back splash but am nervous about it. I think I really need to make sure the marble is one that has some cream in it rather than one that is just true white and gray.

I'm also wondering if my ceilings and trims/baseboards should match the off-white or if I an use a true white. Decisions! The color that matches is "Soft Wool (24-1B) from Valspar for Ace."

We are mid kitchen Reno now. We have not picked a backsplash. We went with cloud white for the ceilings and trim and I am very happy with that choice.

Trish, how do you like the off-white cabinets? Are they more yellow than white? I really wanted a white kitchen and I'm worried about the shade of the Bodbyn off-white!

I love them Ashlee! It's still not finished but I love the warmth of the colour. We are going with caesarstone organic white quartz. As long as your careful with your whites you will be ok. We went with cloud white for all of our whites and it works great.

Trish, I would love to see finished photos of your cabinets/paint colors. I am in the same boat as you and its driving me crazy! We just started our reno and I'm freaking out a bit over the paint colors with the bodbyn off white. I wanted a pure white paint color but thinking thats a bad idea. Please share the final pics if you do not mind! thank you!

It still looks the same, lol. We should get our counters next week. I'll post when they are in.

Can't wait to see it! Did you have any issues with parts/cabinets not being in stock? I've heard some horror stories of people having to wait months for out of stock doors, hinges etc from IKEA.

Yes, lol. That is why you can't see it! We still have some drawer fronts missing and the back of our island. Sucks, but it will be worth the wait. My husband is doing it himself too while working full time. I suggest hiring someone!

Hi Trish D, in a bit of a panic mode here. my walls are a soft grey and ceiling is white. wanted an all white kitchen. is Bodbyn Off-white too yellow to have anywhere near a grey? should i go with the Bodbyn grey color instead maybe? Totally stuck...

faarah23 -- I did grey walls (white window trim and baseboards) with the Bodbyn off-white cabinets and it turned out great (for my taste anyway :-)).

    I posted 4 photos here: [https://www.houzz.com/discussions/kitchen-help-ikea-bodbyn-dsvw-vd~3081503[(https://www.houzz.com/discussions/kitchen-help-ikea-bodbyn-dsvw-vd~3081503)

My walls are Benjamin Moore's Greytint

Hi Faarah23, go for the white! We love our kitchen. We have bodbyn white, bm cloud white trim and ceiling and sw agreeable gray walls. I tried to attach a pic but the app froze and I had to delete it and download again. I'm afraid it will do the same if I try again. If you want white go for it. You won't regret it!

I also did grey walls in mine with the off white grimslov. The ceilings are stone white, and the walls are smooth stone. My current pics don't show the colors well, but the smooth stone has a bit of beige in it which goes well with the off white of the cabinets. All of my trim is a bright white.

I just bought the Bobdyn off white cabinets from IKEA. I was also nervous about this but IKEA assuaged my fears when I saw one of their showrooms had the off white Bobdyn with the white Subway tile. It looked great. Definitely solidified in my mind that I would like it. Now time for install!!!

I am 75% through my install and it's going great. The IKEA system allows for flexibility and design changes on the fly if the first idea didn't work out (ie returned the corner cabinet glass shelves and replaced with the glass carousel for more access). The Bodbyn off white is very close to white and won't conflict with grey in my opinion. We went with a quartz countertop with grey and brown veins and it turned out well. I sympathize with the spouse doing the work himself as this project started in April.

I love your countertop. It goes so well with the Bodbyn which I think I will use. I think I have enough swatches to do a free patchwork counter...lol! Would you mind sharing the brand and color name?

We went with Bodbyn off white cabinets and we had the same fear about off-white. Finally, we went with caesarstone quartz Statuario Nuvo for my kitchen island and white subway tile backsplash. My walls are Benjamin Moore's AF-680 Wish. We are very happy,

    it turned out great !

Thanks for all the comments I’m in the beginning stages !!! Your post have eased my fear of the off white lol this is the countertop I’m thinking ... what do you guys think of it ?
I think it's too much pattern with the floor. I would use a lightly patterned white like Caesarstone Organic White or a grey like Caesarstone Concrete. Don't use any of the other matte concrete colors as they have maintenance issues.

I'd love to hear how people's Bodbyn cabinets are holding up? Any peeling/moisture issues?

I am also interested in paint ideas for our kitchen - we are doing Bodbyn off-white cabinets. I wish I could tag people in here and ask you to msg me with your pictures. I bawl trying Sherwin Williams Light French Grey, but I think it is too light.

We went with Bodbyn off-white and just painted the walls basically the same shade. I was too worried about the cabinets coming off as yellow to do anything else. I love it though! I’ll take a photo.

Gordo, what was the wall paint you used? Can I tag or private message people here?

@ashlee8605 are you able to share a photo? I have to choose paint tomorrow. I would love to see your kitchen. Did you include a pantry?

We have the offwhite Bodbyn doors and loving it. We will add more of those doors.

We are changing more doors to offwhite Bodbyn.

How are the doors holding up for people? I’m considering these vs the new bright white Axtad

@J F the doors are holding up fine! We have some peeling on the door above our stove, from cooking/steam. But that’s the only problem so far.

We did Ikea bodbyn off-white just last year. We have added Shadebrick light backsplash, which has many hues of white/off-white. I love it, other than a couple of errors during install. You CAN NOT use 1/2 brick on one side of something and 1/2 another brick on the other side because each brick is unique(ish). We have one darker 1/2 brick. Can share pics and other insights.

@kel_kat5 i would love to see pics with the shadebrick light backsplash pls:)

I used Bobdyn white as well with biscuit Daltile subway and am enjoying but it’s only been months so not sure durability. Easy to clean so far.

I'm thinking of Bodbyn off white cabinets with a black quartz worktop, hoping this will look ok? Unsure about back splash though - any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

We are having Ikea Bodbyn creamy off white cabinets installed A decorated suggested we add a little colour with Benjamin Grey Lake on the walls Any thoughts? or should we just paint everything cloud white?

We have a griege color Coliseum grey by Behr and like the contrast. Though I read griege is out but whatever. We have white baseboards and lots of white furniture so I think it works.

    Coliseum marble I mean

@True North Med. wondering how these cabinets have held up? Thanks!

I still really like it but we do have some nicks by now in high use areas of cabinets. We’re a family of 5 so things get used often.

We were pretty hard on our kitchen with three dogs and had no nicks or scratches after 5 years. I am planning another IKEA kitchen in our new house.

Mine have held up like a dream 5 years later. Now I’m putting them in a new house

@Trish D Can we see pictures of the finished kitchen

I am so sorry I missed this! I can't believe I didn't do a finished photo. I will take one now, though my kitchen is a mess! But you'll get the idea.

Again, sorry for the delay. Also, the mess! Overall we are happy with it and they have held up well.
