This door is very traditional so wondering why this was the choice and also the herringbone backspalsh is traditional

So, I do love the very modern flat cabinets but I thought they would be too modern for our house. It's a Spanish Colonial in LA.

So I want to update the interior of the home but not go so modern that it doesn't feel like it makes sense for the house. So I thought doing this type of cabinet with modern silver hardware would work.

That makes sense.I think in that case I would stay away away from true grays with the off white cabinets and maybe try something in the greige family and then a simple subway tile with the greige grout or just black counter and subway tile , then the simple stainless pulls.

mwallenbeck - what did you decide on??? I am trying to accomplish the same thing! I live in a midcentury Calif home and fluctuates between modern (asymmetrical fireplace) and then there are mullions on the windows. So I am thinking transitional, using the gray bodbyn with more modern stainless pulls, stainless appliances. I really wanted white, but I feel the white is to creamy, I wish it were a true white. I would love to see a picture of what you came up with.

juliewilds1 -- I ended up getting the off-white Bodbyn cabinets with silver hardware, black quartz countertops and herringbone marble backsplash. So, the cabinets and backspash are more traditional but the hardware and counter tops are more modern. They are finishing up the backsplash today! So far, the kitchen looks really nice. I'll take a photo after the backsplash is done and post it here.

That sounds beautiful! I think that I am going to buy a door front in the white and bring it home. I think that the gray just may be too dark. Thanks for the message and I would love to see a picture!! btw, when did you start the renovation? I would love to get this done and over with!!

We did demo in mid May and everything is wrapping up this week. But we were doing work on the entire house. We did 2 bathrooms, flooring, light fixtures throughout, paint throughout, etc.

How did you acquire the panel to cover the refrigerator. I am freaking out as I don't see it online in Bobdyn white (only grey). Did you order in person at the store? I have my entire kitchen (unassembled) sitting in the living room but we now need the large panel before my fiance can start hanging the cabinets. Did you cut the larger piece to fit the overhang as well? Any help greatly appreciated!!

The panel we purchased for next to the frig is:

3’-0” x 8’-0” FORBATTRA cover panel (off-white)

It's not listed as Bodbyn but its the same exact off-white color. If your ceiling height is less than 8 feet then you'll have to cut it down. We did purchase that piece in the store after calling around to see who had it in stock.

The panel is important because it's hiding the gap between the pantry/frig and the wall. We wanted the pantry cabinets to line up with the frig so they had to be installed away from the wall several inches.

Hey mwallenbeck, I realize this is an older thread, but was wondering what cornice and decostrip you used on your cabinets? Your kitchen turned out beautiful and just a great mix between modern and traditional, by the way!

Hi! I was wondering if you still love your cabinets. And have they yellowed?

I am so disappointed with my bodbyn off white kitchen I purchased 5 years ago and its gone very yellow, contacted ikea and they dont seem to want to take responsibility , I am having to take my complaint further,

@mwallenbeck What type of trim did you use on top of the cabinets? Did you have any gaps the ceiling and trim? If so, what did you do?

@mwallenbeck How tall are your ceilings? Did you use 40" cabinets? What distance is between your countertop and bottom of the trim under the cabinet? How thick is the countettop?
