Major Kitchen Remodel

I'm looking for a counter-depth 36" stainless or panel ready french door fridge, a 36" duel fuel pro range with self-cleaning oven for our upcoming kitchen remodel. Anyone care to review their appliances that fit this criteria? I'm looking at kitchen aid, viking, thermador mostly.

Because I've really enjoyed cooking on 'open burner ' gas stove tops (the flames go directly up, not out sideways) and you mentioned dual fuel, I would consider the Capital 'Connoisseurian'...I don't actually own this range, because I use an all gas range. Anyway, here's a link http://www.capital-culinarian.com/open-burner-connoisseurian.html

It has all the bells and whistles (rotisserie) and some of the best top burners made.

    A few questions-

How do you use your oven? Why do you want an electric oven vs gas oven?
Would you consider a rangetop and wall oven? You would have the advantage of picking the best rangetop and oven for you. If you cook, there is a big difference in the way ovens are put together and in burners. What do you cook and what type of cookware do you use. This can impact what type of burners would be best for you.

Read about the different characteristics of burners. There is a huge difference in the way burners are engineered.

As Plllog said it is very important to read the use and care guide to ranges you are considering. If you were considering any type of Capital electric oven, Connoisseurian or Maestro, the manual has some interesting information in the unique way the oven functions and there is additional info from the factory in -->this thread. Manuals can reveal all kinds of little quirks and foibles.

I am looking for dual fuel because that's the only way to get a self-cleaning oven. I have a Viking in our mountain house and after cleaning it last weekend I decided Theres no way I can keep doing that as I get older! We are empty nesters. We are taking down a wall and widening another wall so the new kitchen only has space for a range. I'm letting go of my double ovens in this deal.

Kim, it is not true that all-gas ovens don't have self-clean. I happen to own one as a matter of fact. Just now I did a 3-second search on ajmadison's website and came up with 15 all-gas 36" ranges with self-clean. http://www.ajmadison.com/b.php/36+Inch%3BGas%3BSelf+Clean%3BRanges/N~25+4294965554+1171+4294964456

Regarding your wish for a "panel-ready fridge", keep in mind that a "panel-ready" fridge means it's a fridge with panels just tacked on, and the fridge is not hidden at all. This costs more than just a fridge with standard factory doors, plus you need to include the cost of the panels themselves. If you are looking to save in your budget, you may want to have your fridge not be paneled, as it may actually look better not to be paneled in this way. If on the other hand you mean a "fully-integrated" paneled fridge so that the fridge is totally seamless with the cabinetry, and you can't even tell where the fridge is in your cabinetry until you open it, then make sure you search for "fully-integrated" fridge, not just "panel-ready". Keep in mind that a fully-integrated fridge starts at $6,500 (if you can find that - I think Liebherr makes one), but most are $8,000-12,000, and that doesn't include the panels. There was a thread recently discussing this, with illustrative photos: Thread about Appliances and Paneled Fridges

The Capital Culinarian has a model with self clean that is all gas. I am looking to replace a Wolf DF because the oven has chipped to the base metal at 4.5 years. I just do not have much confidence in what is out there in DF ranges.

Thanks for the info! I was misinformed. I've been thinking about cutting costs in the panel-ready fridge area.
