Longtime fan of Houzz that finally has the courage (and a reason) to post.

We moved into our house last April and are finally getting ready to get some work done. We've narrowed down our choices for floors, cabinets and countertops, but are kind of stuck in making the final call.

Floors - We like wide plank hardwood floors. Based on our slab, we probably have to go with engineered. We are going withthe English Pub Series from Johnson hardwood floors and our final two color choices are Whiskey and Brandy Wine.

Turning to cabinets, we found a pretty amazing deal with KraftMaid locally that would save us a HUGE chunk of money. We're looking for a white shaker cabinet and found two: Deveron and Durham. We like the feel of the Durham (solid wood panel) versus the Deveron (veneer panel), but the Deveron drawers have more room for cup pulls, which is a must. The Durham leaves a tight fit and we'd almost run the risk of having no space. Do veneer panels make THAT much of a difference?

Finally, going with a white/gray-ish quartz countertop. We're torn between two Silestone colors: Lyra and Lagoon. Lyra seems to have some heavy gray veining that we're not sure we love.

So far, I'm leaning Whiskey, Deveron and Lagoon, but figured it might help to get some independent thoughts. The goal would be to go with darker brown floors, white cabinet, and a gray/white countertop.

Right now, we have poorly installed Lowe's stock cabinets, tile that has a pink hue, and granite countertops.

Other notes:

- Going to replace metal sink with white farm sink and pulldown faucet

- Galley kitchen

- Countertops will also be replaced in pass through

- Looking to go more of a satin nickel look because our bathroom reno is going to be polished chrome

- Prior owner built a fake wall upon which cabinets sit in order to bring electricity to that wall in kitchen.
