Adding a Portico any suggestions?

After 25 years we need to replace the cedar siding. We would like to add a Portico. We have some ideas but our builder is not a designer and we are looking for plans or someone to help us with the design. Basically want to do a face lift. New landscape, siding, porch and portico. I would love anyone's ideas! Thank you and looking forward to some feedback.

do a houzz and a google image search. if you have a perfect photo you and a contractor will have the confidence to go ahead.

25 years on cedar siding seems a bit short. if you are having water damage issues thats something that needs to be addressed too.

What is wrong with your siding that warrants replacement? It should need re-staining after 25 years, not replacement.

Thank you all for the ideas. I will look them over. I'm going to look at the siding again. I know that the trim around the windows is definitely in need of replacement. Thinking that maybe the siding just needs a good sanding and better paint.

Hi rg83,

You should definitely add some shutters in the traditional Colonial style (panel on bottom, louver on top). Here's some work we've previously done that might help inspire you

I don't think you have room for shutters on the two lower outside windows; they're too close to the corner of the house. Beefy trim like yours doesn't require them. Here's an article about shutters. Please consider removing the current hedges for something more dwarf/compact and low maintenance.
