Hi, what a gorgeous room. My thoughts are that while the ottoman is very pretty you have a lot of fabric going on between the ottoman and two sofas. The current ottoman is also too small to be useful to both sofas. It might be nice to switch the current ottoman out for a large square leather ottoman and adding a large tray or coffee table. You could then get ikat pillows to get the eclectic feel you are looking for. Could you use the current ottoman in another room? I also think the lighter sofa is missing a place to put a drink down. I think if you added a larger end table (perhaps round) to the right so both couches could utilize it the space would become more comfortable. I also agree on the comments about adding roman shades.

Click on the green "More Info" buttons to source the pillows. I would paint the FP white and build rad covers to serve as benches under each window. These examples are a bit large but you get the concept.

I like the drapes the way lesgc has shown them pulled to one side.

They would add color and make the room feel more established and comfortable.

I appreciate the posts to help me pull the ottoman into play. While I wish I could make switches with upholstery and coffee tables my budget is probably closer to new pillows, maybe a side table (like the idea of a round one at the corner of couches) and ideally a stool or pouf of some sort. We had an extra chair in the room and it started to feel too tight. The room is a good size but tends to work better when it feels airy and open. I moved a red print from another room and will work it onto a living room wall. I think it works with the ottoman?

all you need is to replace the area rug....her is a great opportunity to add some needed texture and color! then add some simple, long, straight hanging curtain panels from black iron finish decorative rods to frame out your beautiful windows and soften the entire space and then, add a few great toss pillows. keep mantel decor very minimal if any at all....it will be come cluttery and distracting under the tv. a great space!!

why do you need a stool or pouf? I don't see it as a good expenditure of money. It won't be comfortable for watching tv. What is the purpose?

I'm looking for some extra seating that can be moved around. The area to the right of the couch is fairly open. We play a lot of board games around the ottoman and my kids drag in their bean bag chairs. Was hoping to find some nice looking stools or something...Moroccan poufs came to mind Bc I like the vibe with the ikat ottoman.

good reason, but something about having one or more objects the same height as the ottoman bothers me. maybe a hard chair instead of an upholstered chair?

you can get this in a black frame and many different colors for canvas, but I'd choose red to go with your ottoman

your console table needs help. vary the size of the frames more. You can use mats to surround the pictures to get varied sizes and maybe add one or two objects which aren't photos

Ok great thank you. The console definitely needs some love. New frames are on my list but had not considered artwork and I like that idea.

Definitely add throw pillows on the couches. I was going to suggest a tray with decorative items on the cushion coffee table, but looks like you already did that! Def add some window treatments on your windows- all of them; It will make the room more inviting and comfy. Add more decorative items, like a vase or some little trinkets, to the console table.

And the couches are too close in color to the rug. You need some contrast there, maybe go for a darker rug, or a more patterned one with complementary colors.

Add maybe a big vase with some decorative sticks in it in front of the fire place.

If you do add poufs for the kiddos, keep them under the console table when not being used. Consider a larger picture over that table or hang one or two more. Can't wait to see what pillows you choose to play up the blue/red accents.

Instead of poufs, consider storage cubes for under the console storage--they could provide storage for all those games, etc.

We have cushions from an old sofa I upholstered for this reason. Kids love for reading by fire and games.

The ottoman has storage. I like the idea of stowing seating under the console. And thank you Ramona for saying the rug will work! I am searching for pillows and struggling!

It's just that you have a very two-tone thing going on I think you need something to tie in those colors plus add more. A Persian rug would be the ideal thing to do that but these and pillows would be a cheaper way!

Green fish--I totally agree that I am stuck right one with those 2 colors. Like the idea of bridging the two with another color(s).

I saw these with Mitchell Gold that also can be ordered in other fabrics. Not sure what budget you have in mind, but could be something to check out.

Those pillows are nice, but you may find them on overstock.com (or something very similar) where they would be a lot cheaper than Anthropologie.

Thanks for the pillow support : ) One of them has a little deep purple in it...found this too to integrate some color and objects into the console table that steps out of the reds and blues.

That would be great. I love the small red print you showed. Where did you place it? Would love to see more photos after some changes. You can also go to the fabric store for remnants for sewing over pillow fillers. So much thriftier & you can choose the colors, fabrics you like easier.

You certainly have gotten a lot of interest & comments with your lovely, eclectic room. I love the red & with the addition of purple with the blue it will be fantastic.

Thanks Sandra. I haven't placed the red print yet...right now it's sitting atop the blue table where the other print was (but it helps just to have the extra red in the room to help incorporate the ottoman for now). I'm waiting to get a few of these other pieces in place before I commit to a spot.

Pull the sofa away from the wall. The whole seating area needs to come together and moved toward the fireplace. The picture behind the sofa looks too high or possible too large for the wall, but it could be because the sofa is too close to the wall. I like the ideas of roman shades for your windows, why cover those beautiful wood wrapped windows?!

Now that we see the corner with the long table, I'd suggest floating the sofa and putting the table behind it. Hang the large picture on the wall where the table is now - it can carry it all by itself. Place the sofas both perpendicular to the FP and you may have room for one or two chairs where the sofa is now - making a "U" of seating around the FP focal point.

Just wanted to follow up and say thank you for all the great advice! Room still needs some finishing touches but we ended up changing the rug and I think it makes a difference! Pillows are new too.

Remove carpet get a red one like your Seat. Add a table in gold colour or dark wood to match to get a nice semi chic style. Get some bomemian style pillows in red gold etc to brighten up the beige couch.

I think the rug is too timid and it "reads" as pinkish. The size is good but the old fashioned style doesn't fit the more contemporary feel of your other pieces or the modern art.
