need help with big stitch quilting

Hi. I was sure that I had started a post about this but I can't find it.

I am trying the Big Stitch quilting. I am using regular cotton thread but I think I need something heavier as I am using a bigger needle.

Anyone that has tried BS quilting...what needles/threads did you use? I have googled and found info but would like to get your helpful opinions.

Any hints/suggestions would be appreciated.

Perle cotton is recommended- also 10 wt crochet with large "between" needle.

Hi Geraldine, I've never done Big Stitch quilting but it looks interesting and maybe someday I'll do it. Here's a link that looks like it gives some good info: http://www.craftsy.com/blog/2014/08/big-stitch-quilting-basics/

Sashiko reminds me of Big Stitch so here's some info on that, too: http://www.purlbee.com/2008/01/19/sashiko/ I've not done any of that either, but do have a pattern and supplies for when/if I get the urge. :-)
