Extra Long Sectional Sofa

I have a sectional sofa that is 38 x 155 x 87 x 38 and 22H for arm rests and 27 H for the rest and I am not sure wether to put a console table all the way along the back and sides that is slim or wether that will be too much and what length and height might be appropriate. The longest part if against a wall now so it would be pulled forward a bit, is there a rule? We have more modern/transitional style. Super thanks in advance, Debbie

There is no rule. Don't be afraid to experiment. Go to Houzz photos and type in sofa tables for ideas.

Hi, I agree....really no "rules" I'm aware of either other than perhaps that the top of the console should be equal to or lower than the top edge of the sectional/sofa back itself.

Here's several photos for you....as you will see there are many different ways designers have placed a console in relation to a sectional. The lengths and heights of the console even vary. A low bookcase, desk or bench can also be used in lieu of your traditional console or sofa table.

Because you have the drama of an extra long sectional, I would experiment with putting two smaller consoles behind the sofa or else you risk creating a big "blob" in the room (technical term).
