I like the top design as well. Mostly because of the island and how the fridge area is designed compared to layout #2.

Is 42" space between counter and island, tight? but acceptable because it is an island?
As for a "U" layout (layout 2) you have to have 48" space otherwise you are trapped / cornered? please confirm

I like the 1st one as well. Will the counters at the island all be the same height (I hope). Provides much more staging space for around the sink. I would suggest one large deep sink, but that is my personal preference.

Yes, all at the same height, I will consider the deep sink option, thanks you.
I have re-adjust the layout so there is 42" counter to counter.
but that don't give me much room for the sitting area, is 10" overhang acceptable? or should I just give up and put two stool at the end?

    I like #2.

Better seating arrangement and the last seat to the left in design #1 will block the doorway to the dining room.

The bench in #1 will probably never get used and will just be a convenient place to drop stuff off. (although I like the idea of storing hot tub stuff there).

#2 also allows you a bit more room in the actual work area so it will feel less cramped.

I am going against the general consensus here, but I have visited this house and know it well! :)

I like #2, but not the bar. I would leave the island, but put a couple of comfy club chairs and little table. I love all the windows.

Love the curved bar and have seen this style in a model home in Texas! You will want to be able to open the dishwasher and the cabinet doors at the same time, so measure to be sure you can. Nothing worse than opening the DW and not being able to open the cabinet where you want to put the dishes you just pulled out of the dishwasher.

No to the c shape. Too much walking. No to chairs sitting at the sink. No to a deep sink. Even as a short person, hurts my back if I have to lean in to do dishes.

    Sorry do many nos.

Love the idea of an island, but I don't think I have room to sit at the island
"Face39" you mention it's a no for sitting at the sink, perhaps for the same reasons that I am not hot on it too, my sink don't look like a showroom every day and often there is water splashes.

Since this is a place for opinions, I did have this exact kitchen years ago and loved it. But my kitchen was a bit different. Flip the wall ovens and the refridgerator. Put the sink where the cooktop is, then place the cooktop on a 45 degree angle in the corner between the ovens and the sink. Just a thought. This leaves your bar open.....mine was 6'6" by 3 feet deep and serviced three stools. I also put a small prep sink in the corner of the island closest to the refridgerator. Again, just a suggestion if this is all still on paper. I hate a sink in an island because all you ever see are dirty dishes constantly in the center of the kitchen. The kitchen is a great size. Looks like it will be really beautiful.

I am so thankful for this website and the folks who take the time to give advise!
I love it when someone say why they done like something. Things I may not have thought about like " sink in an island because all you ever see are dirty dishes constantly in the center of the kitchen" thanks soosun2 for mentioning that.
Right now it's just on paper, things can still change, I do have all the appliances though, including the integrated stove hood
