Trash question...

Almost there! almost there! Below is our almost final kitchen layout (there's also a fridge, broom closet, and pantry perpendicular to this on the right. But anyway, we're going to get ride of the wine rack on the bottom left, and put that 6-9" into cabinetry. Two questions:

1. I'd like to have an 18" pull out trash; we are a family of 4 and have lots of trash/recycling. So, my KD suggested we could make the sink cab 36" instead of 24", and have one half swing open for random stuff, and the other half pull out for trash/recycling, which would work if we kept the 20" or so sink, which is what I want.

2. We would then still have 6-9" of space to add into the cabinetry, and my hunch is that it's best to increase the space between the stove and sink because that's where two people will most want to work. Thoughts on how to best do that? add 6" to the drawers that are now 30"? I imagine that will hold

3. Alternatively, we could keep the sink cab 24", and have the 18" trash pull out separate from that. It would then be "under" the prep person, as opposed to "under" the person at the sink.

Words of wisdom appreciated!
