I don't think I've seen this edge before, have you seen it on other pictures on houzz? If not, I would for sure change it. It would be an easy fix once you get a hold of the bullnose pieces.

I think it's a nice touch. Like a border to end the backsplash. I don't see anything wrong with it (unless you don't like it).

It looks fine to me. What doesn't is the faceplates for the electrical. Can you at least paint these to match? My painter would actually also add the strip to line up the group, but he is an artist.

To be honest, it doesn't look right to me. It looks like a remedy to a problem. I'd fix it. :(

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. I suspect your contractor is trying to convince you that it looks right when he is in the wrong by failing to order the proper material. It's his error so he needs to own up to it and rectify it. When I looked at the pictures, I immediately saw the issues and noticed that the wrong tiles were used and some didn't even line up. The problem is that you paid for his service, quality installation, and knowledge to order correclty. I would have it removed and re-done. You will always notice the issues and you will never be satisfied. Don't compromise. You deserve a quality professional job.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I do plan on having the outlet covers painted to match. The total cost of the project including new appliances is $100,000 so I really don't feel any corners should be cut.

I'm in the 'get it done right' camp. Especially if it's the only thing wrong. If lots goes wrong you have to pick your battles. If bullnose are not available an alternative might be to cut the regular tiles to size and finish at the side with a metal tile strip.

I think it looksfine, but if it is going to bother you every time you walk in your kitchen, have it fixed. What a pain! Same think happened to us. The tile guy forgot to order the bullnose edge, so he just left unfinished but didn't try to create a fancy edge like yours. At first it made me crazy, then I just got used to it. I think it would have been better if he left the tiles staggered and made an even cut at the end. Easy to repair-I would think by just removing the square tiles.

This is wrong. He should have used bullnose OR staggered it like the rest and did an even cut (if the bullnose was unavailable). It is fixable.
