I think I'd forego pendants in that kitchen, but you could go either way.

Your ceilings look quite high so I'm thinking two pendants hanging in that space would look too undersized and spindly. I don't think you necessarily need a hanging light fixture if you like a clean look. But if you like more going on in your space, maybe some kind of light fixture that is suspended from two chains. Wouldn't have to be this exactly--but here's an example..

Or now that I think about it, a big white globe or two might be good if you like this type of look

I agree with Shelly. If you go with pendants, I think they need size to work with the ceilings being so high.

If you add pendants, they need to be as spectacular as the kitchen. Nothing ordinary will do here.

When I see kitchens like this, I usually see no pendants or a few small glass or tube pendants like wsea suggested. I love the simplicity of your kitchen. Have a statement pendant in your dining room, I love Nelson pieces.

The world is your oyster - your options are many. Beautiful fresh and airy kitchen ready for some fun. Stick to white, black, nickel or crystal for the ceiling fixture(s). #5 is for what not to do. Too clunky. #7 I like the round chandelier. I had fun searching and had to contain myself; I apologize for the many images. Can't wait to pick the art for your walls.

Oh yes. Pendants would definitely add interest. Others have given you great suggestions, but my favorites are the last two, which are more timeless.

Yes. Go a industrial look Google for ideas. Lamp plus carry some. So does Restoration Hardware.

Like one other comment I would go for the statement light fixture in the dining room, if you don't have a dining room then the kitchen could be considered.
