Authentic? No. Beautiful? Yes! You have a mix of periods, but it works well together!

What little I see of the floor, it does look like hexagon tiles. I like it even though it isn't "authentic" to the time period! Great remodel!

I love the tub/shower, light fixture and colors, but agree the pedestal sink would have been more appropriate for that period. Nevertheless, it's beautiful.

It's very attractive; nice job. But I do prefer that pretty, more authentic pedestal lav. A more vivid color scheme would be more 1920s too. Most Deco colors weren't shy.

The "Deco" light fixture is nice but not appropriate. Sink doesn't speak the period. Overall however, it looks nice. Certainly an improvement.

A little bummed they didn't try to make the "mint" work in there. That would've been interesting. Nice makeover though.

Okay if the after picture is the one with the claw foot tub, and the before picture is the turquoise tile then you got it wrong. Claw foot tube photo is a bathroom from a turn of the century home. Turquoise tile picture definitely is a 1926 bathroom. (I owned a 1929 home in a neighborhood full of that era bungalows. Had friends with turn of century homes, too. Saw plenty of original bathrooms from both eras.)

I have a little claw foot tub that was used in Oregon's first "auto camp" (predecessor of the "motor hotel") in about 1922. Very likely some '26 homes had them; of course later the feet may simply have been hidden by the enclosure.

I have to say I do love that period pedestal sink. I know there are issues with storage with those type sinks especially if you have storage issues. Nice job like the tub looks great.

To those who claim that some houses in 1926 had wood wainscotting or clawfoot tubs in their bathrooms, of course they did. Just as some houses in 2015 have 30-year old almond appliance or shag carpet. But the client in this case wanted a bathroom that would match what a new build in 1926 would have. It would have had tile walls and a pedestal sink and square tub with art deco lines.

So the designer did not "nail" the period match. It's a nice whimsical nod to earlier design periods, and that's not bad. But matching what would be in a 1926 new build? No way.

Thank you to everyone for all of your comments and insights!! While this home is from 1926 the homeowner's goal was to simply pay homage to that era and also stay within a tight budget. Could it have been more period correct...definitely! Ultimately we were successful in creating a space that looks great, didn't break the bank and made the client and everyone that now gets to use it very happy. When the client is happy...I'm happy! Sparygalka, the shower is very functional and with the curtain fully drawn not a drop hits the floor.

Designworks Interiors, LLC the mint was fun but unfortunately it was paint over tile and had to go. The before picture bathroom was not original to the home. It had several replacement pieces and adaptations that were inconsistent.

Gregory Greenwood Construction, your comment above is right on. Terms like "1920s" and "Deco" cover a lot of ground, not to mention that in real life there was great variety in what people liked and what they could afford. That's why claw-foot bathtubs were frequently enclosed to modernize them instead of having to replace a perfectly good tub with a brand-new one. I know my upstairs bath in this 1930 house, using a 1922 claw foot tub (but a historic one, with provenance!) is going to be a bit old-fashioned rather than totally authentic. But in the new bathroom downstairs I'll aim for a more 1930-Deco look. Then there's the kitchen with the 1936 Wedgewood range -- the look of the future! It's all fun....

Nope, you didn't get it "right" but it still has some great features none the less: pleasing colors, beautiful tub, really great light. Certainly an improvement.

I hope you gave the sink to someone else instead of trashing it. I have never seen a renovation where they salvage a claw foot but replace a pedestal with a Lowe's circa 2012 sink.
