Exterior color help.

NJ Victorian beach house. Taking off asbestos siding to reveal original clap board. New pewter gray timberline roof. Thinking blue/grays, but don't want to look like a big blueberry. Please help! My family has given up on me.

I think a nice slate gray or gray/blue would be very appealing on the new siding. You could add in some navy or dark gray shutters to add some contrast, or do them a stark white if you go with a darker shade for the house itself. You can avoid the "blueberry" look by keeping any blues in the gray family, so they appear more neutral. This would look nice with your new pewter roof and would also offset your white porch posts.

Would you have any specific colors to recommend? I am color challenged! They have got part of the new roof on, which shows a lot of blue in the gray, and I am not liking it. Wishing I had gone with weather wood for this old house, but its too late now. I hoping for the right color combination.

Paint stores have exterior catalogue color combos for homes. Just go to HD or Lowes or Benjamin Moore and find paint folders that say exterior paint colors, historical paint colors, etc. and find a trio of colors from their representations.....they will suggest body, trim, doors, etc. Find a combo you love and there you are? Guess work is gone.

Also HGTV Magazine has a section every month called Copy the Curb Appeal. It shows houses from different areas of the country and this month is Florida, and then shows all the items and paint colors they put on the house right down to the flowers. You could go online and find an article that covers your area of the country, I think, you could look it up on line and that will also give you great ideas. You will find an answer.

These are all great suggestions. The house is beautiful, so you shouldn't have trouble adapting your inspiration color schemes to your exterior. It's a nice classic shape that would lend itself to many different looks. The yellow is also very nice.
