How is the venthood vented out?

I have the same setup with cabinets not to the ceiling. How did you vent it out? Is this setup opposite an outside wall? Trying to find a way that the pipe isn't going to be exposed exactly like this one is setup. Any help would be great. Thanks!

In this scenario the hood is on a wall shared with a neighbor. After considering running venting to the left through cabinetry to the exterior, we opted to use a recirculating hood.
