Saw you found the UK forum, I was glad to see... There are some really experienced growers that are active contributors on there that you're likely to meet at the shows, if you attend. Mentors within driving distance is a great thing to have!

I am trying to grow sweet peas Cici but without a huge amount of success. I am trying climbing roses now and will just sit back and see which ones put up the best fight! That is some quality looking soil and mulch you have there. Nice open space as well. I tend to plant tings where there is a chance of sunlight sneaking between the trees :)

Progress to July. A lot of the dahlias are beginning to open and looks like its going to be a good year for variety.

My new land: Got myself a new plot to take the overspill of dahlias. A bit of weeding to do first I think :)

Are you planning on planting the leftovers on your plot this year, or just prepping it for next spring?

How big of a plot are you going to actually use for dahlias, and are you able to pipe water out to it?

Water is a sore point as the landlord lead me to believe there was water there which it turns out there is not. Another £1000 to run a supply in. Ouch.

Wow. That might be a deal-breaker. Unless you get a couple days of heavy rain each week through the summer? It's one thing to invest in a water system for your own land, but to do that for a rented lot? That's a lot of pounds.

I'm looking seriously at investing in T tape for next season, as my leaky hose is such a pain with having to connect up the hose to all the different beds constantly. I've been lazy recently, and only counting on rain. I'm sure my bloom quality have suffered as a result. It should run me around $200 for a high-quality setup, with only one hose hookup for a thousand feet of tape in five long beds.
