Love night bloomers! What zone are you? Assume tropical-just wondering. My pond was in Illinois and we couldn't think tropical until after Memorial Day. Now I'm in FL but new pond is just in the planning stages. Night bloomers are part of my plans, especially since I've moved from Zone 5 to 9B. Yay!! I'm pretty sure this was a night bloomer but I shot it years ago so am not positive.

That's right night bloomers are tropical. That's an interesting point on pollination.

Catherine, I've heard of the white flowering one but don't have it. Do have a day flowering white though.

Thepondfather, yes, yours looks exactly the same as mine. The closest ID I could get for them was Nymphaea 'H.C.Haarstick'. They can go dormant so that will protect them from winter cold, provided it's not too cold. If it's warm enough they'll keep going throughout the year.

While googling yesterday I found a hardy night bloomer- several generations of hybridazation and patented and cost a couple hundred $$
