Anybody have TCE Quartz?

TCE Stone has some great pricing for quartz. They are a Canadian company but it looks like they've recently branched out south of the border. They do have a bunch of environmental and green certificates which sounds great to me. But I worry that I can't find much info on them. My fabricator is looking up some customers that used their quartz, but I was wondering if anybody here has used them?

I love the look of granite, but I worry about it staining. I also love marble but would never use it in a kitchen. I also am kind of green and I use/eat clean natural products for the most part so the sealer you need for granite kind of worries me.

below is the quartz I would choose. I like it from far but not real close up. Mind you I won't be super close to it unless I'm bending down. This is TCE481.

    That looks great!

Doubting between 4023 and 4028... Does 4023 have beige/brownish tones in the veining? What is the base colour? Is it more white or more grey?

Does anyone have 4028 and how does it look with white cabinets?

I have been saying I will replace my laminate, warping countertop for about 10 years. I bought my sink. It's time.

My brother in law (a contractor) suggested TCE stone. I have seen a few of his kitchens which look nice but I did notice staining on one from their stainless steel paper towel holder.

I don't know that I can justify spending twice as much on Caesarstone. I have under 40 sq feet to do.

Can anyone who has had their TCE Stone for a few years comment on the durability and any staining on a light colour?

    Thanks in advance.

Taliaa, stainless will mark the stone. That said, I've always been able to get the marks out with my Enjo cloths. before I had those alcohol worked. Our countertop is pretty light, but not white and so far in over 2 years we're still stain free.

I have TCE 2038 (which is similar to 4028) with white cabinets and gray island

Does anyone have the Costco Tuscan Hills Ultimo cabinets? We are considering them. I ordered a door and love the stain and construction of it. The shelves have a melamine surface and I'm not sure how I feel about that and you can't physically see it before you get it in your home. Would love to know how they hold up over time and if anyone had any issues with measurements since it is all done online.

No, still haven’t picked my countertops yet!

Thought I finally made a decision (TCE 6002) which I quickly found out was discontinued! I live around the corner from their head office so went into today to find an alternative. They said they actually have a special order of 6002 coming in. Sooo, I will maybe get lucky just before Xmas!

Despite everything I have read about their company, the staff were accommodating and helpful, especially Sonia. I was even offered a job if I could learn Mandarin!

    Here is the next question:
What thickness of slab do people go with these days? I read an article saying people like the look of thin now (?!) but I was thinking the thicker look would be nicer, look more substantial and give me that custom kitchen look despite keeping our old cabinets.

I know TCE offers two sizes, 2cm and 3cm. My fabricator will double up to 4cm edging on the 2cm slab. I am worried about seams and the finished look. I want a pencil edge eased.

When they double up, is it visible like a sandwich?

Don’t tell me I overthink things please. lol

    Thanks in advance.

Jenny P, we are about to purchase TCE 2038. Love how they look in your kitchen. How are they holding up?

Anyone have a picture of the 6002 installed? Thanks

Nancy - how did your kitchen turn out? Would love to see pics as we're thinking of going with the 1902 for our new kitchen (black cabinets). Thanks!

We installed TCE 4005 with IKEA off-white Bodbyn cabinets over 2 years ago. Still going strong. See more here: Classic White Kitchen Makeover

I had TCE stone installed in October 2017. It is now seven months later and so far, it is great! The installers removed my old granite, which was very difficult to do but they did a great job and their price included removal and disposal of my granite countertop. They also installed stone on my new island with the same colour stone. It is black with some silver sparkles and looks great with my cream cabinets. With the Blackstone you do see the dust every 5 to 7 days but I do find that the little silver reflects that I have help to hide any dust! I would highly recommend these countertops and I’m so glad that I didn’t go with granite again. My decorator had recommended TCE.

For those of you with quartz countertops from TCE, are your countertops 2 cm (with a 2 cm build-up)? I have a quote from one kitchen contractor for that size from TCE that's almost half the price of what a local stone supplier is offering me (Silestone's "Desert Silver" - picture attached), though their countertops are one solid 3 cm slab. It's difficult for me to know what the difference is in appearance. The local supplier was advising that the 2 cm counters have a seam somewhere. Is that an issue?

    drsheryl196 - is that a 4 cm countertop? Which I assume is 2 cm attached to a 2cm build-up?

Is the build-up wood? Sorry, I'm reading different things and it's a bit confusing....

I think that mine is 2cm but they put a double edge on. I don’t have any seams—my counters are 9ft And my island is 66 x 60”. I’m the same person that posted the black countertops above

    Daniel, are you in Toronto?

No, Kingston. The kitchen cabinet guy I got the quote from must deal with TCE in Toronto.

My countertops are 2 cm with a 2 cm build up at the edge. Some places offer 3 cm, it's what you'd prefer. You can see my seam of you look very close. Three lighter the countertop, I think the more you'll see the seam, if at all.

@Jenny P - Do you have an updated picture of your kitchen? I would love to see the counter with the backsplash you've chosen.

Nancy! I would love to see a picture of your updated kitchen! I love your choices...I am getting the TCE 1902 Could you post a picture:) thank you in advance!

BAD = TCE. Save yourselves a lot of time, money and frustration, do not buy TCE. We purchased and the slab was covered with black rings. We called fro customer service but they referred us to a weasel clause they have in small print stating that the slab you receive may not only vary in color but in pattern.

Sorry about your problem HU. Can you please post some photos?

I have used TCE quartz in several of my builds and in my own home. I have been really happy with it.

Hello, I am looking for the TCE2040, Does anyone know where I can find it ?

TCE doesn't have it in stock, http://tcestone.com/?page_id=299. So I will need to find it in a retail shop.

    Thanks,

    Philomene

@JennyP its the tce 2038 whiter than the TCE 2028? I was told TCE 2028 its more off white.

Hi Philomene, I am also looking at 2040. Did you end up finding it?

Hi all, wondering if anyone had used TCE 2033 and can post some pics, how do you like? We picked solid wood - walnut stain cabinets and thought tce2033 would look nice, still have time to change it anything so hopping to see pics of kitchens vs just a sample that I have.

I have it in my house, it's only been a few months and it stains terribly with wine, tea, etc. even if cleaned up quickly. I've tried everything. The company is hard to reach and has provided no solutions. Caesarstone or similar products do not stain this badly.

    TCE 4018 , just installed.

I got TCE 2020 installed in my kitchen. I heard of Arban Stoneworks (Ottawa) from my friend who had TCE 4002 installed, she went through her contractor who knew what he was dealing with. I dealt with them directly and this was my first reno.. A warning to those who don't go through an experienced contractor, check out your slab prior to having it cut. I ended up with a remnant or poor quality slab which had glue staining and divets throughout the slab. A very expensive mistake due to my inexperience. A warning not to use Arban Stoneworks as you'll have to know what to look for during the renovation process as you can get short changed. When I asked them to submit a claim to TCE Stone they said it was my fault and they inspect all slabs prior to sending them to customers and refused to submit my claim. TCE headquarters could do nothing for me even though they have a 30 year warranty on manufacturing defects. DO NOT INSTALL TCE COMPANY'S QUARTZ PRODUCTS. ARBAN STONEWORKS also dented my sink which got resolved but it delayed my reno by 2 weeks. A horrible experience, stay away from them.

My kitchen is now 2 yrs old. I have black with silver flecks. So far, so good. No issues whatsoever. I do not place hot items on the stone--just in case! And I use a cutting board.

I am considering TCE stone for my kitchen countertops. Anyone has positive or negative feedbacks especially from those who installed it at least couple of years ago. Thanks.

Hi Nayan, I am happy with my counters. They have worn well and are much tougher than I originally thought. The colour still looks good and I have no stains despite beet juice, red wine, red cabbage etc getting on it. I use Lysol Kitchen Cleaner (yellow spray bottle) on it and it is still great. I do still use trivets with hot pots (not worth the massive headache in case it does mark).

    Thanks taliaa

Mine is around 4 years old. It also looks great. I also do not put hot things on it--just in case. I have black countertops with little silver flecks (#6100).

    Thanks.

Mine has been in for over 4 years and it's still looking great. All kinds of stains that always come out with really no work. I don't even worry about it anymore. I also never put hot things from the oven directly on my countertop. If it were cold enough I'd hate for it to crack. I have a hotplate they made me from my quartz and two glass cutting boards that I use as trivets on either side of the stove.

    Hi everyone,

Recently had TCE2012 installed in our kitchen and my wife and I are very happy with the result. We shopped around and found a great distributor in Laval, QC, we chose the color at their showroom. They were very professional and I would recommend these counters to friends without any concerns.

@muranoguy did you use 2cm? If so, are you happy with the thickness? It seems the 2cm TCE is often installed with another 2cm lip on the front, which requires a 'build-up', which makes me nervous.

@muranoguy which distributor in Laval please?

I loved my TCE counters, no trouble with staining or marring after 5 years.

On average how much is tce stone per sq ft?
