I am having the same problem. I cannot pull out the 3rd rack. There is a white, round plastic device blocking the rack. My dishwasher is brand new, and was just installed yesterday. I haven't even used it. It's built in and hard to get at the rack. What should I do? thank you.

Same problem here. The rack pulls out about 6 inches until the round white plastic thing on the top blocks it. I tried to push it up gently, but it didn't seem to want to budge.

Just spoke with my local dealer who sold it to me. He thinks the unit was damaged/dented on top during shipment which pushed the ceiling and white plastic fan down blocking the third rack. I sent him a picture, and he's going to get back to me. If it's a dent, I'm confident he'll take care of me.

Jeff B and Donna who posted above are probably correct about the dent. That is a fan on the top center of the DW ceiling. My fan protrudes about an inch below the notched opening in the back of the third rack preventing it from coming out. Mine is so far down that I don't dare try to pop it back up.

It's not a gentle thing to pop it back up, but I was able to do using just my hands. Push the stainless steel, not the white disk. It helped that I had the tray out and could see what I was doing. No problems with my dishwasher since then. Good luck.

I have a Bosch with a third drawer and there is no arm at the top (there is a sprayer inside the white thing). Here are a few pictures, one with the drawer out and the other with it in.

As said before, my dishwasher came dented on the top, which was the reason the 3rd rack got stuck (it would hit that white plastic thing). Sadly I only figured out that was a problem after the warranty was over.

This is what I did: I removed the dishwasher from the countertop, removed all the trays, and also the spray arm (there are videos on the web on how to remove it). Then I used a mallet to fix the dent the best I could - I wasn't able to push it with my arms. Now the rack comes out correctly.

Had the same problem! Did exactly what the others did and gave it a little pop and the rack came out! I pulled back the protective cover and mine was also dented at the top :/

Same problem. This doesn’t sound that rare. I’m also out of warranty due to delays in construction.

Had the same problem. Glad this forum is here or I never would have figured it out. Had to take a rubber mallet and pound on the top from the inside. The top (3rd rack) now barely clears but at least I can open/close it. Kind of puts a damper in the excitement of getting a new dishwasher.

Thanks for all your posts. We had the same problem. Took out the top 2 racks and then I used my hands to push up on the ceiling of the dishwasher. Minimal pressure was all it needed and the ceiling raised by 1 inch. Problem solved!

Thanks everyone, I just took delivery and had the same issue. As folks recommend, I took out all the racks and pushed up on the ceiling of the dishwasher with two hands. It popped right into place..

I had the same problem almost an inch and a half of dented ceiling...

I constructed across strap of 1x4 rresting on the wheel ridges.... and a slightly over long 2x2 soft wood pusher stick about 24 in long with gently rounded corners

Pull the pusher stick vertical slowly and the dent pops right out.

Someone needs to tell Bosch not to stack these things 2 or 3 high

Brand new Bosch 800 installed yesterday and am having the same problem. Can’t pull out the third rack because it catches on the white piece on the inside top. Appears the inside top is pushed down. Who do I contact to fix it?

Yep, our dent was due to them stacking these units in the warehouse. Apparently. Bosch replaced the entire unit. Be prepared for a wait if this happened to you.

Same problem with 300 series. Installed a month ago and third rack worked fine until today. Sounds like Bosch either has a design or quality control problem we all are hitting. Comments above do give me ideas how to proceed.

I was able to slide my hand in and just lay my hand flat and push the dent up. Nothing was creased and everything is good to go now

We just installed a brand new Bosch and im having this same problem! my dent is pretty big and i cannot get the dent to budge. what are my options here?

Our new Frigidaire Professional series was also delivered damaged. We couldn't see that with all the insulation wrapped around it, but we couldn't get the third rack on top out as the spray blade was jammed into the rack from being pushed in/down. The people we purchased from (a national seller that only deals with appliances) was useless and accused us of lying about a damaged product. After fighting with them, we gave up and called frigidaire direct. SUPER nice. They sent a tech out and it was deemed unrepairable. They have offered us a buyback. It is in process. Tech said it was definitely stacked in a warehouse.

I have this problem but it doesn’t seem to be from the white thing hanging down - racks seem to hit the sides - any ideas of wh this happened?

Thru the magic of google, I found this posting. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I just put in a new Bosch 300, and same problem - couldn't push the top rack passed that top plastic water wheel. Your solution worked great - I was able to bang the metal back into shape with my hand. That top is surprisingly flexible. My theory is that the sound insulation pushed the top in as it was slid under the countertop. Anyway, everything works now. Again, thank you for posting this!

9 years later and thanking you for this post! I've had a nightmare 2+ months trying to get my brand new Bosch 500 series dishwasher problems sorted. First machine mysteriously leaked out of the front door immediately upon install, got routed into warranty repair support who sent a tech out 5 different times trying and failing to resolve the problem. Finally got Bosch to approve a warranty replacement & just had the replacement unit installed. I confirmed there were no leaks & sent the installers on their way, only to discover *this* issue preventing me from opening my third rack more than half-way. After frantically Googling the issue, thankfully found this thread, pounded on the top of the tub and undented the top, which allowed me to push up the sprayer & now have a functioning third rack. What next, Bosch!?!

Yes me too! I picked the Bosch 500 series dishwasher up from Lowes and could tell the styrofoam had been smashed up some, but no visible damage to the machine. Got it hooked up, ran test cycle, then realized top rack would not come out. After banging with the heel of my hand as others mentioned, it’s pounded mostly back into shape now and rack slides unimpeded. I hope there is no lasting damage to top sprayer or anything else.

Had the same issue. The top of the machine is just not meant to withstand pressure. It will buckle down and the top arm will stop the 3rd drawer. If you gentle push upward on the inside ceiling of the washer it should almost 'pop' into place.

not only was my top dented down, but the sprayer arm had also come out of the brackets that hold it to the ceiling of the washer. i have had this issue for at least 7 years and just dealt with it. thank goodness i just googled it and ended up here!

Just had the 800 series installed this morning and same issue. Luckily I found this post! Going to reach out to our sales guy and get this figured out. These appliances are far too $$ to be having issues like this upon install.
