Pretty in Pink Eden climber 2015

Hi, Thought I would post a photo of this new pink version of Eden that came out this year. Color is a very pretty deep pink. It doesn't appear to have much of a "moderate" fragrance as it is described to have, but I may have seriously high expectations due to my collection of antiques,

Austins and fragrant HTs. Size of bloom is about 3".

I have no info on performance since its new but I'll make sure and report back. I have high expectations of this one however, as I am putting it in a prime location.

Aside from the lack of fragrance it looks promising to be a showstopper. :-)

Adrianne

P.s. These photos sure upload wonky!

    Hi Ann-SoCal

Thank you for your post! i Live in Riverside California and have been growing this wonderful rose in full sun for years, it also grows and blooms well in shade though seems to prefer the sun for its most spectacular displays. Since it is a close genetic relative of Eden and White Eden I think you’ll do very well with it.

I see no need here in SoCal for grafted plants; mine do well on their own powerful roots. My beautiful wife Gina takes great pride in caring for ours. Now they are taller than our house!

Named for my beautiful mother, Margaret Mae (Pretty in Pink Eden), this wonderful rose continues to bless us all.

I’ll locate some local sources and report back. Kind regards, Reg

Reg: Thank you for your response. This is so helpful! The story behind your Rose and makes it even more beautiful and special. Would you consider telling us the story in your own voice with the roses in the background. If you’re camera shy you can just show the roses as you’re telling the story… I would love to see beautiful roses and hear it about how you discovered it and how you named it, on your YouTube channel. And I think many other rose growers would also really enjoy knowing the history of this special rose. I can’t wait to start growing it in my garden.

Ashley: WOW!!! The way you grow your roses is just beautiful... it always breaks my heart when I hear that people replace beautiful gardens with sod... but at least in this instance they moved pretty in pink Eden to spot out in front, where more people can enjoy it.
That’s exactly where I plan on planting my pretty in pink Eden… In the front yard.

    Hi Ann

I found Pretty in Pink Eden rose online from Edmunds Roses for $24.95 with shipping approximately $15

local sources seem hard to find

Thank you Reg! Looks like I’ll have to purchase online... I was also having trouble finding it locally. For a roses that thrives in Southern California, I’m surprised it’s not more widely available

I just saw PiPE at FreshGardenLiving on etsy. They also have the White Eden. 19.99 & free ship..they are smaller own root/band type of roses so keep that in mind. They also dont ship until April. I order from her alot.

I love fresh garden living! The plants are small, but mine really took off and grew. I just ordered another earth angel and Kiss Me Kate from her.

I really thought about getting Kiss Me Kate. Its so pretty but I think I want to get a grafted one. I got New Dawn CL, Iceberg CL, and Polka CL. I have some stuff I want to cover with climbers lol.

@regtomerlin: I found a pretty in pink Eden locally. But the blooms, just don’t like the pretty in pink Eden’s with the cupped blooms full of petals. I’d love to get your thoughts on this. Is this just a poor clone of Pretty in Pink Eden? In your years of growing this rose, did you ever grow one that looked like this? Also notice the stripping on the petals. Here are some photos.

Regtomerlin: Is this really pretty in pink Eden?

Note: Most of the photos above were taken in shade conditions around sunset, and 2nphotos were taken in direct sunlight.

Does anyone else have a pretty in pink Eden that behaves like this?

Hi Ann. Someone sold you a different rose. I’d ask for a refund. I’m sorry for you.

@regtomerlin thank you for your response. I was so hoping this was just the way it behaves when the plant is still young. I even checked all the tags on all the plants to make sure I was getting the right plant. And all 6 of them looked like this. Ok... hopefully they’ll be willing to allow me to exchange it. I even found another thread on here with someone else growing a very similar looking roses that’s masquerading as “pretty in pink Eden”... so apparently I’m not the only one having this experience.

Yes, that doesn't look like PIPE. I have two 4-year-olds, and they are VERY nodding.

The color, petal count, and shape combine to make this rose unique; and uniquely beautiful. Appropriate to name her “Margaret Mae” after my beautiful mother!

You are clearly a beautiful person. Made my day to read this.

I told my Mom before she passed that someday rose lovers all over the world 🌎 would know Margaret Mae Rose.

Today the great Meilland family, the one that developed the famous Peace rose and many others grow this rose in the south of France and distribute it throughout Europe and Asia. Star Rose company is the world-wife licensee and distributor.

I got a bareroot ownroot last year but for some reason it had die back and didn’t grow much, fungi infection perhaps...it did produce one bloom on a 6inch branch. I gave it rose tone and fish fertilizer but no shoot. This year it is still tiny, and putting out a single bud again. Any suggestions on whether I should baby it and see if it ever catches up, or should I get a grafted plant and start over?

I have this spectacular rose: very healthy in my no spray garden, very little die back and beautiful spring display.

It’s a lovely gift you have given us @regtomerlin. Will call her Margaret Mae instead of PiP henceforth.
