I use half potting soil and half compost. But people here hate compost. I love it! Best amendment I ever used.

Why would you say "But people here hate compost."

Nobody here ever said that they hate compost....you are mixing apples and oranges; compost is not recommended for long term growing in containers....(and especially if they are grown indoors).

Rina ...... What do you mean by "not recommended for long term growing in containers"... I will be growing these potatoes outside on soil.

I am talking about years, not a season and growing in containers.

You did say: "What soil mix would you suggest for growing container potatoes. I will
be growing them in 8-10 gallon containers on soil with good drainage."

There are ppl that use compost even for indoor plants, but that's what isn't recommended while not impossible (recommended is the key word).

BTW, where are you located? (I believe in UK they refer to what we know as potting soil, compost?)
