What's the difference from these chairs verses knock-offs?

I've seen others that look exactly like them at a fraction of the cost. Are they heavier? I didn't notice seams in the knock-offs.

I bought 6 of the clear ghost arm chairs from Kartell and love them. To my disappointment, my friend also loved them and last year she bought 2 knockoffs, proudly noting her savings. Have to be honest, I had trouble seeing the difference. Pisses me off!
