I'm usually not a fan of modern, but this house looks really cute to me! The first thing I'd do is address what appears to be either a covered walk or carport (sorry, can't tell detail from the photos). It's a bit overwhelming and camouflages the entrance so that the house seems "faceless". Maybe reduce it to a porch? Also, the ground surface looks like three different materials that should be made consistent. The large expanse (foreground) that looks like asphalt isn't adding anything.

are the attachments necessary for your house? the entry awning seems a bit problematic, does it really have a hump or is that from the way the photo was shot. cant quite tell on the second picture, but the deck awning seems in better condition, thats confusing as well but i expect it gives nice shade on a sunny day.

anyway i really like your house and i think that color suits it (as would a natural driftwoody color) but i cant quite tell whats going on with the landscaping and things.

You could move the house to about 200 km outside of Paris.

I haven't bought it but I'm considering it because of the location and the acreage and the views. I don't like the look of the home (at all) but it's just situated in a perfect place.....and the price of the home reflects the location so it really can't be torn down. The covered sidewalk connects it to a detached garage. I really can't get over the windows in the back that kind of buttress outwards like some kid's Lego castle gone wrong.

I'd pass then. It would probably cost you more to try and turn this into a different style of house than it would be to tear it down.

i'd say pass. someone will love it to bits, after removing the awning to the garage. i'm very very attracted to what i can see, but i fall in love inappropriately.

Agree that you should pass. I don't know what the interior is like, but it doesn't sound like you could be happy with this house no matter how much you love the setting.

jj..new to houzz? How about sharing more information before we all give up a lot of our time (which we are all willing to do). Is this your home? Do you want to buy it? Why? How about interior shots?

I agree with those saying that maybe this isn't the house for you. It's unique and could be beautiful, but attaining the look you want would destroy what's there without actually providing the look you want.

HI -- So you like French Country houses ! Guess what ... this can never look like that because it isn't ! Just do French country on the inside decorating . Leave the out side what it was designed to be ... contemporary . Maybe doing black trim accents will help the look of the house . I love this style house and it is a great example of it's design time . Respect it ! Thanks .

It's true this could never be a French Country home, but I'll take a big swing at incorporating a few things. The interior is all yours! I'd do a light gray stain/wash on the exterior,with slightly darker window frames and rework the entry canopy/covered walk so it looks more graceful. You could do a lavender/rosemary garden at the front in a gravelled bed, with a modern-type concrete fountain. To mask the bump out you don't like, plant a flowering tree...maybe a magnolia if your climate suits.

I agree about taking down the front awning/covered walkway, and bringing the French country look into your interior. I like the house! I also love french country, but don't have a French country house on the outside. They are near impossible to find where I live.
