Fedco carries it but that's mail order. Agway in Concord seems to have the widest variety of seeds although not as many as in the past. I'll keep my eyes open. Bedford Fields in Bedford NH usually has a good selection, too.

I've looked at Agway, Cole Gardens, and Home Depot in Concord, but no luck. I'll try Murray's in Penacook this weekend and the little place in Northwood on route 4 this coming week, but I am starting to get worried. I thought finding the seeds would be easy.

Fedco has sold out on seed, but Johnny's still had some seed, so it is now on the way. Last year I got it at Cavarretta Gardens on Rte 4 in Northwood, but he wasn't able to get commercial quantities of seed this year.

Glad you found it. I usually order Fedco in a group order thru Hillary N in Canterbury except this year I missed deadline for seeds and potatoes. Agway in Winnisquam, also an Osborne Agway like Concord didn't have it and yesterday I check Bedford Fields in Bedford NH. There seed selection looked a lot smaller this year. Do you eat Redbor or use it as an ornamental?

Defrost, I eat it and plant it for ornament. A friend gave me some Red Russian a couple of years ago, and it was just OK for ornament and flavor IMO. When I spotted the Redbor last spring at Cavarretta I bought it mostly for ornamental value, but I realized when I tasted it that it was great for eating too. I ate a lot of it raw as little leaves while working around the garden, and in the fall I harvested whole plants and sauteed them with olive oil and served them with a bit of lemon juice. Great flavor and I love the text that the curly leaf adds. There weren't enough for soup, but I will plant more this year.

In the planter by the front door in July (half shade) but the ones in the sun were the just a bit greener.

After fall frost it lost all green and became an incredible burgandy color. I actually had neighbors stop and ask me what it was. I've had that happen before with flowers, but never with a vegetable!

NHbabs, do you still have seed for 2016? The Fedco catalog has arrived but website says no Redbor this year, crop shortage. Looks beautiful.

I didn't end up planting the Redbor seeds when they arrived, between the extra dry weather and my schedule, so I still have the packet I ordered last spring. If I have extra plants, do you want some? Johnny's also lists Redbor as a crop failure, but they have one called Scarlet and another called Olympic Red, though neither is quite as pretty. I grew Red Winter this year, and I'm not as impressed with the flavor for eating raw as I was with the Redbor. It's also not as pretty!

Thanks for the update and plant offer. I'd love 2 or 3 plants. Family isn't thrilled with eating kale but I have hopes plus it would be pretty in the garden. This year I planted violas, red cabbage, leeks, alyssum, and lemon gem marigolds together just for pretty. Let me know if you are looking or something I might have. I'm tempted to get seed for the new zinnias Johnny's showed in a recent email.
