I think that would work! In that case, I'd go with an off-white subway for the backsplash so that it doesn't get too dark. Maybe something with a shimmer or glass, rather than ceramic. Enjoy!

Hi Natalie, in the pic it looks kind of grey and beige, but it is really a cream color. I love it! Really beautiful up close, with white veining running through it. Good luck!

Because my stairway and kitchen wall run together, I'm considering painting the kitchenUniversal Khaki, as well. I already have our great room painted that color, but I don't have a good cutoff point to do another color in the kitchen. We are looking at painting our oak cabinets (very similar to yours) a cream/white color, so the khaki color would look nice with lighter cabinets. We also have stainless steel appliances. I'm contemplating having our island cabinets painted a darker color instead of matching all the other cabinets. Our countertop is a mix of cream, black, tan, brown, and gray quartz. We're pulling the cream color to lighten everything up. Your ideas sound good, color wise. I think they'd look great!
