I have lived in this home for 13 years. I love the location, the community and the interior of the home. But, I hate the exterior! The brick that was chosen by the original owners is poor quality, and a terrible solid orange. The front elevation is flat, with no architectural elements to add depth or dimension. And, I've never liked the large transom and half-moon window above the front door. Our budget finally allows us to make some changes. I'm thinking about painting the brick a soft white, replacing the shutters with larger 'real' shutters painted dark gray, and we're thinking about also replacing the front door and window area. However, our budget requires us to stay within the opening already created--can't cut into the brick. I know these are dramatic changes--especially painting the brick! So, I'd appreciate advice from the Houzz community before I take the plunge.
