Just one opinion, but I would go for a long low console with the TV on top rather than a massive piece of furniture -- you'll get the TV at a better height, an dyou already have the storage and look of the built-in on the opposite side. This console could be white or wood, depending on whether you want to feature it or make it disappear a bit. Ikea is famous for these.

(p.s.) hope that you have a different place for the nice screen, as it seems likely to dominate and darken this room!)

Hello - a slightly different idea, but could your existing built in be modified to accommodate a tv in the top portion? If so, you could flip the direction of the sofas around (one with back against the wall with the window and one with back against the wall on the right). This could really open up the flow of the room, especially from what appears to be your entry door in the back left of your photo and also improve the flow from the space where you stood to take the picture. Good luck!

I think Artemis Lin has a very good suggestion. I would imagine retrofitting the current built in would be very economical. A skilled carpenter or cabinet builder could fix it up in a jiff.

Lovely ideas. I do like the consoles mentioned in the first post from ACM. Also could consider flipping things around in the room -- it just seems strange to face the front door when looking at the built-in. I haven't seen many homes where you face the front door when you are in a living room, but open to suggestions on how this can be done.

We had a home where the front door opened in the center of the LR, the only place for the sofa was opposite the door. Not a problem, you're not sitting there watching the door, you're doing other stuff. And your door is nowhere near as prominent.
