I need help choosing paint colors to update my house. There is oak trim and cabinets throughout the house with brass knobs and fixtures. I'm NOT willing to stain or paint the oak. New knobs or painting the existing ones is an option. I hired a decorator and didn't like her opinions on paint colors. They're all too dark, grey, or yellow. I like neutral colors that aren't dark. Help please!

Trying to update my home.. Need soft neutral paint color for living room and open kitchen area. . Have 1990's oak trim and cabinets.. Any suggestions would be well received.. Would love to paint trim but husband is against that ideal. Also added dining room. Please help with suggestions... I have at least purchased 20 sample size paint colors.. Found out I can't go with grays and others colors look to rosie...
